ORANGE COVE'S CAITLIN BENSON, P.A.-C. RECEIVES HEALTH PROFESSIONAL AWARD
The Orange Cove Area Chamber of Commerce recognized UHC's Caitlin Benson, P.A.-C. for her outstanding and dedicated service to the community. Caitlin was joined by UHC staff, as well as her mother, Kay Trettin as she accepted the Health Professional Award during the Orange Cove Chamber Awards Dinner on February 24th. UHC is proud to have Caitlin on our team and congratulates her on her well-deserved recognition.
UHC WELCOMES DR. STEVEN NICHOLS
UHC is proud to welcome Dr. Steven Nichols, Ph.D. to our team. Dr. Nichols brings more than 30 years of experience as a Psychologist. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno in 1982.
"What attracted me to United Health Centers is the service to rural communities," he said. "I bring experience working with children, teens and families and I'm very patient and compassionate toward people in need."
Dr. Nichols will be based in the Raisin City and Parlier School-Based Health Centers.
NEW MARKETS TAX CREDIT PROGRAM BENEFITS UHC GROWTH
On February 23rd, members of UHC leadership and management welcomed Congressman Jim Costa, City of Selma and Fresno officials and Central Valley NMTC Fund, President and COO, T.J. Cox, to the site in Selma where the newest UHC health center is under construction. Rep. Costa (D-Fresno) announced $55 million in funding under the calendar year 2017 round of the New Markets Tax Credit Program. Under this program, UHC is eligible to receive funding to help build the Selma Health Center, which will be finished later this year and will include all UHC services.
UHC STAFF CONDUCTS CLEAN HANDS ASSEMBLY IN RAISIN CITY
UHC staff conducted a "Clean Hands Assembly" promoting hygiene at Raisin City Elementary School on February 23rd.
More than 130 students interacted with UHC staff and the ICARE Bear by following along in a presentation demonstrating effective hand-washing techniques with and without water.
Students also saw a video which featured the importance of not eating foods that fall on the floor due to germ contamination. All children in attendance received free hand sanitizers from UHC.
UHC PROMOTES ITS PROM TREASURES PROGRAM ON UNIVISION
UHC Director of Communications, Ricardo Viveros, was joined by UHC Foundation Ambassador Andrea Andrade, in leading a group of high school students as they showcased Prom attire that will be given away during Prom Treasures on March 24
th at the UHC Admin Building in Parlier.
Ricardo discussed Prom Treasures during Univision Channel 21's weekday morning show Arriba Valle Central. The program is organized annually by the UHC Foundation to provide Prom attire for low income students.
