Stronger together... we lift each other up. We are SERRASTRONG!
And let us consider how to lift up one another, to love and good works
- Hebrews 10:24

A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT TRUDELL
IMPORTANT CALENDAR DATES FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR 2018-2019

As previously announced, we are excited to open the new school year 2018-2019 with our entire campus completed. To ensure we are ready to welcome everyone back, our school calendar begins after Labor Day 2018. We thought it might be beneficial to again provide you with these key dates. Watch for the "Year-at-a-Glance" Calendar which will be in SerraDIPITY by mid-May.
  • September 4 (Tuesday) - First Day of School TK- Grade 8 Students - Minimum Day
  • September 6 & 7 - Preschool Orientation Days by appointment
  • September 10 - First Day of School for Preschool Students (M-F and M/W/F)
  • September 11 - First Day of School for Preschool Students (T-Th)
  • October 29 - No School
  • November 2 - No School (Teacher In-service Day)
  • November 19-23 - Thanksgiving Break (return November 26)
  • December 20-January 2 - Christmas Break (return January 3)
  • January 21 - No School
  • February 18 - No School
  • April 19-April 26 - Easter Break (return April 29)
  • May 27 - No School
  • June 18 - Last Day of School
Spring Break vs Easter Break 2018-19: I am aware that some of our high schools have determined, for various academic reasons, that their spring break will be at the end of March 2019 instead of immediately following Easter. Although this is challenging for us, we will not be making this change. Being in school during all of Lent and Holy Week are essential to our Catholic faith and identity. The Diocese of Orange feels strongly that we, as elementary schools, need to continue to keep Easter Break as a celebration of the Resurrection. SMCHS will have spring break in March, the last week. JSerra High School will have spring break the same week we do, in April after Easter. I am more than aware of the challenges this might be to some of our families...we will make it through this one year.

Save the Date for a Weekend of Celebration and Blessing of our Chapel, October 6-7, 2018. Special visit by Bishop Vann, family events, tours and prayer services/Mass plus much more.

The love demonstrated to us by the death and Resurrection of Christ is an unconditional love. For we know that Christ loved everyone. We may not always see examples of this in our lives, but we are called to love as Christ does us with an unconditional heart and an acceptance for all.

God is Good All the Time...
All the Time God is Good.

ANNUAL FUND
Leveraging Matching Gift Companies and Community Partners

As you know, we are trying to hit a giving level of $150,000 by June 30 in order to support our new SMARTLABS, due to open in the fall.

This week, we were presented with a grant check from Pacific Life Foundation to support our SMARTLABS! Two of our families who work for Pacific Life helped make that happen. Perhaps your company has a grants or charitable giving program that support STEM education or the Arts? We would love to hear about it if they do!

Additionally, many families who work for matching gift companies, double and sometimes triple their donation by participating in their company's matching gift or community giving program. Perhaps you work for a matching gift company and don't even know it - look HERE  to find out. We would be glad to  answer any questions you have to help you maximize your giving.

Matching gift opportunity or not, if you haven't given to the 2017-2018 Annual Fund yet, please DONATE  now. We are so grateful for every gift and would love to increase our parent participation to help us reach the 85% participation by our teachers and staff. To do that, we need EVERY family's help.

Imagine if every family gave what they could; we would be well on our way for the SMARTLABS to be fully funded.

"Thank you for all your support in helping me understand scrip and the process to get going.  All is working and I just bought my first Amazon card. I will be using that a lot since I do most my shopping there.  I also put a spreadsheet together of how I will use scrip proactively this year (Dennis Uniform, Summer vacation flights on Southwest etc).
