Scheduling

As the first semester comes to an end this week and we approach the midway point of the school year, I am confident that our students will continue to demonstrate The Bear Way and excellence in the classroom.  It is hard to believe that we will begin preparing for next year already, but in a few short weeks we will begin the scheduling process.

Please note that the high school will be distributing scheduling materials to the 8th grade students on Friday, January 18.  There is a parent night scheduled for 8th grade families on Wednesday, January 23 at 7:00 PM in the PAC.  8th grade students will then begin scheduling on Monday, February 4.

Additionally, the 5th - 7th grade students will be learning about the scheduling process from our school counselors.  After a scheduling overview is presented by our school counselors, they will meet with each student individually throughout January and February to talk about academics, career exploration, and social/emotional development.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher, school counselor, grade level principal or me with any questions throughout the year.

Thanks,
Jeff
Important Notes:

Scott Backovich
Scott Backovich is a youth motivational speaker who has dedicated his life to inspiring teens through speaking at their level.  His quirky, yet powerful style speaks to students and helps them to understand their true potential.  His message, "Giving Hope" helps middle level learners learn how to work together, provide inspiration and give hope to their school and community.  Mr. Backovich will be speaking to our students on Tuesday, January 22 and facilitating the NRMS Leadership Conference on Wednesday, January 23.

Basketball Tailgate
The NRMS Basketball Tailgate  is a great way for all students to get involved at NRMS. Students can purchase tickets for $4.00 in the cafeteria during lunch on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the event. The ticket provides students with pizza, water, and chips during the tailgate along with entrance into the 8th grade girls and boys basketball games on Thursday, January 24.  Once the game starts, students can be picked-up at any time from the Gold Gym. At the conclusion of the second game at approximately 6:15 PM, all remaining student pick-ups should happen at the front of the school.  We would encourage all who attend the tailgate to stay for both basketball games.

Washington D.C. Extended Field Trip
Please remember to register at  https://tm.nowaktours.com/ for the 8th grade extended field trip to Washington D.C. as this is how we initiate and finalize reservations for hotel rooms, buses, vendors, etc.   Checks can be made out to North Royalton City Schools and should be turned into the main office.  The second payment of $155.00 is due on Thursday, January 24.

Yearbooks
Yearbooks are currently on sale.  Please click here and use code 30225E.  The price of the yearbook is $22.00.

PTA
Please consider joining PTA and volunteering your time throughout the year.  The NRMS PTA is a vital component to many of the activities and opportunities that we provide to our students.  Our next meeting is on Tuesday, January 15 at 9:30 AM in the NR Public Library.
