Warren County Tourism Dept. Seeks 2019 Travel Guide Information and Advertising
In a recent email to area organizations and businesses, the Warren County Tourism Department noted it is already working on the 2019 Travel Guide and seeking input from local businesses and municipalities:
Our 2018 Lake George Area Guide was touted as an example of how a travel guideshould be designed at this year's New York State Travel Industry Association conference session "The Travel Guide of Tomorrow." The 2019 Guide will expand on that success and continue to serve as an inspiration piece to visit the Lake George Area and utilize our website as a vacation planning resource.

Developer seeks zoning change for 73-unit affordable housing off Broad Street
A Westchester County developer is proposing a mixed use building with 73 affordable apartments and commercial space on a stretch of land on Broad Street between Steve's Place and Hill Electric Supply Co.
Regan Development Corp. wants to put up Glens Falls Broad Street Commons, consisting of two connected, four-story buildings on six parcels of land that cover about 4 acres, bordered by Broad, Frederick and Staple streets.

The Jefferson Project on Lake George to be extended to other bodies of NYS water as concern about toxic algal bloom grows
The Jefferson Project is a collaborative effort of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, IBM and The Fund for Lake George. Now in its fourth year, it gathers tremendous amounts of data to understand and model what is happening to the lake over time.
Recent concern about algal bloom on Skaneateles Lake near Syracuse has brought about an announcement that a pilot program will install a version of The Jefferson Project in Skaneateles Lake sometime this summer. It's the first time the technology will be brought to a body of water other than Lake George.
EDC Warren County supports the further use of this technology to ensure that waterways across upstate New York are protected.

Senate-passed bill to include grants to improve broadband access to rural communities, including upstate New York
EDC Warren County has been working collaboratively with many officials and organizations to advance broadband access throughout the county. We were therefore very pleased when U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced earlier this month that the Agriculture Appropriations bill, which just passed in the Senate, includes $425 million for the USDA's Rural Utilities Service's broadband grant-loan pilot program.
Modeled after Senator Gillibrand's bipartisan Broadband Connections for Rural Opportunities Program (B-CROP) Act, the program will help expand access to high-speed broadband internet service in high-need areas, including Upstate New York.

$92M slated for Albany International Airport upgrades, Northway exit changes
The
Times Union reported earlier this week that Albany County's airport is getting a $92 million makeover to include modernization of the airport terminal, construction of a new parking garage and upgrades to the existing garage that will offer another 1,000 spaces, and the long-talked about reconfiguration of Exit 4 of the Northway.
EDC believes these improvements will make the entire Capital Region more appealing to tourists, business travelers, and those seeking to locate their businesses in Warren County as well.
