Happy New Year!

As we head back into our classrooms, keep in mind that FAEA invites you to highlight the great work that you and your students are doing! Let’s celebrate our profession and highlight the importance of art education!

Youth Art Month is approaching quickly! Celebrated in the month of March, Youth Art Month (YAM) shines a spotlight on the important art successes happening around the state of Florida. Great things are always happening to celebrate art education here in Florida. Please send a picture, description, and/or media article about advocacy events to  info@faea.org , and it will be included in Florida's YAM national report. Label your email with the title 'YAM Event' and send it in anytime.

You can get involved in Youth Art Month by submitting a student design for Florida’s Youth Art Month Flag Design competition by January 18, 2019. The theme this year is, “Your Art, Your Story.” You can find more details about submitting student work in this free competition on the FAEA website.

The K-12 Student Art Assessment and Virtual Exhibition is a special FAEA program that serves as a statewide assessment for visual art, as well as a program to promote the achievements of you and your students. The FAEA website has a support letter that you can download to share with your administration about the importance of participating in this program. There is a $5.00 entry fee per submission, and adjudication will take place in March. FAEA makes submitting student work easy through the online portal.  All entries must be received by March 12, 2019. Special thanks to Sargent Art for generously sponsoring prizes for participants and winners.

We are all advocates for the significance of art education. Lift up your program so that others can see the energy, passion, and meaning behind all of the work you are doing, alongside all of the terrific things that your students are achieving!
