April 29, 2018: The Saviors of God
Rich Panter
A former documentary filmmaker for East Coast public TV stations, now living in Bodega Bay, Rich Panter was raised an Episcopalian, majored in Humanities, earned a Masters in Urban Elementary Education with the U.S. Teacher Corps, and became a UU three decades ago.
His sermon, titled "The Saviors of God", traces his journey to becoming a UU Secular Humanist.
Following the Service, at 12:15 pm, he will be screening his 1-hour public TV documentary, "Divining the Divine",
in the UUCM Fireplace Room. It explores the Temple Prize for Progress in Religion and an interfaith
gathering of the World Conference of Religions for Peace held in Riva del Garda, Italy.

Expect, watch for and embrace uncertainty.
Dance with the madness of the cosmos and not against it.
Leave your door open and your heart ready for anything.
-Vanessa Rush Southern, "This Piece of Eden",
UUA Meditation manual 2003
We love introducing people to our faith and to this congregation, and we very much enjoy introducing new members to the rest of the congregation. New members bring us new ideas, talents and energy, and in turn we offer them a community in which they are supported in pursuing their spiritual journeys, unencumbered by creeds and dogma.
On Sunday, May 13th after the service, the Membership Committee and I will conduct a Path to Unitarian Universalism Class. This class is for newcomers and anyone who would like to learn a bit about Unitarian Universalist history and identity and about this congregation. A light lunch will be provided. Join us!
The following week, we will introduce new members to the congregation in our new member ceremony during the service. If you are interested in formally joining the congregation, please contact me ([email protected] ) 510-8212394 or Membership Chair Thomas Ervin, or you can join us at our Path To UU class on May 13th.

Off to the Regional Assembly
- I am going to Portland, OR for the Pacific Western Region's Regional Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association. I will join in workshops and worship, conversation and collaboration for professional education and camaraderie in the larger UU family.
I will be gone: April 25th - May 1st.
The Creative Compassionate class has done a survey of UUCM to see how it is doing regarding the Green Sanctuary process it started ten years ago. I think they will be presenting a report card of the congregation to the congregation. It is only via a multigenerational effort that we will be able to make lasting change in our communities and the world.

UUCM Readers' Theater invites members and friends to join our fun-loving group. We meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Monday of each month, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at UUCM. Most of the time, we read short plays aloud when we meet, but every 6-8 weeks we rehearse and then present short prose or poems during a service. No memorizing required, but you should be willing to ham it up and be silly. Information: Jan Seagrave (
