Abstract
Information security has become a really big deal - but we constantly seem to screw it up. Big breaches are in the news every day, but they are only
the tip of the iceberg. Security leaders average less than two years in tenure, and job satisfaction - their own and others' of their performance - is
seemingly stuck at rock bottom. Fingers go ablamin', but we in security tend to point them elsewhere.
Why? and more importantly, what can we do about it?
Claimed in its origin by many cultures, the ancient saying "The Fish Stinks from the Head" applies to this newly emerging discipline just as much as
it does to organizational rot and misdevelopment. In this open-to-discussion style presentation, based on the book by the same name, the speaker (and
author) will address both the "why" and the "what" sides of the equation.
Real-life experiences, both amusing and embarrassing, will be shared liberally.
Audience participation is encouraged and lots of time will be given to Q&A.
