Good Deed Brigade . . . Making A Difference
Strikes, Spares, a Perfect Game,
and a Stellar Role Model
Coach Al

Al Reeves is a bowling coach who has seen his share of strikes, spares, and gutter balls both on and off the bowling alley. Prior to volunteering in his current role of a youth bowling coach, Al served in the United States Army from 1968 - 1971 where he did one tour in Vietnam. From his army days, he went on to serve as a fire fighter for 24 years with the City of Jacksonville Fire Department.  Al has served as a volunteer in Big Brothers / Big Sisters and was a home safety program coordinator for seniors living in the Sherwood Forest area of Jacksonville. Certainly, through a lifetime of work in public service and for the community, Al could have rested on his laurels and spent his retirement taking it easy.  However, Al has always found energy, joy, and fulfillment in serving others and the community.  For the past 10 years, Al has been known at local Jacksonville, Florida bowling alleys and youth leagues as Coach Al.  On most Saturdays during the year, you will find Coach Al instructing youth bowlers on their technique, style, and form. You will also see Coach Al doing his best to serve as a mentor and role model for the children.

Coach Al was named the First Coast United States Bowling Congress Coach of the Year for 2017 - 2018.  What drives Coach Al to do all that he has done? For Coach Al, it basically comes down to three things:  Faith, Family, and Friendship. With each of Al's endeavors, he prayed for the strength and wisdom to be the best person he could be AND to bring out the best in others. Coach Al's awards, medals, and certificates could fill a room.  However, the awards and accolades are not what fill Coach Al's heart or soul.  It is the lives changed and enhanced that fill the cup of life for Coach Al.

Coach Al is credited with a perfect game of 300 during his bowling career.  A feat that only a few have accomplished. While bowling a strike for 12 consecutive frames is impressive, Coach Al's never ending spirit of giving that has spanned his lifetime is even more impressive.  Thank you Coach Al for all that you have done and all that you will do in the future.

The Good Deed Brigade salutes Al Reeves and all of the other people out there making the community a better place and inspiring others to do their part as well.
