Minnesota Library Legislative Day 2019

Tuesday, February 26th, East Central Regional Library staff, board members & patrons spent the day at the State Capitol talking to 11 of the region's legislators about an increase in the basic support for Minnesota's Regional Library Systems.

East Central Regional Library receives approximately 26 percent of its operating budget directly from the state of Minnesota through Regional Library Basic System Support. This appropriation funds delivery services between libraries, the integrated library system that operates the catalog and provides administrative and central support to 14 branch libraries.

These advocates also talked with legislators about continued funding for Library Legacy programs and shared about the exciting programs and essential resources provided by the library in their communities.

Form Package 1040 and the Instructions 1040 have arrived at all 14 locations. Taxes are due: Monday, April 15th 2019.

In "A Celtic Breeze," Laura MacKenzie presents the magic of Celtic traditions and music on a fascinating variety of wind-powered instruments, including a special collection of wooden flutes, tin whistles, concertina, an array of different bagpipes, gemshorn and voice. A program for both youth and adults, also learn how air is transformed into music and what makes the airs, dance tunes, and songs "Celtic." 
This program is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.


Adam Lindquist is a living history speaker and educator who is nationally known for his work portraying our 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt. His uncanny resemblance and ability to bring Roosevelt to life earned him national reenactment titles in multiple years.
