The month of February saw record snow falls in the area with more snow on the ground at the end of February in McCall since 2008!

Downtown Street Project at 2nd and Lenora
Work on a multi-million dollar reconstruction of McCall's downtown core will begin this spring after action taken by the McCall City Council at its regular meeting last month.
The contract worth approximately $2.8 million was awarded to Sunroc Corp. of Boise.
"This phase is the most expensive phase in the downtown core, and it's coming in under budget," McCall Public Works Director Nathan Stewart told council members.
Work is expected to last until August and will be divided into four stages to keep local businesses accessible and avoid snarling traffic, he said.
Sidewalks on Second Street will be made entirely of pavers, with matching pavers on the edge of the sidewalk on Lenora Street. Concrete will be used for the rest of the sidewalks on Lenora Street.
The design will make sidewalks safer for pedestrians and will decrease traffic speeds while still allowing maneuverability for semi-trucks or cars pulling boat trailers, according to engineers.
Raised concrete planter beds and trees about every 60 feet will also be added along Second and Lenora streets as part of the work.

McCall St. Luke's Hospital Plans Approved
 A $40 million project to expand and modernize St. Luke's McCall was given final approval by the McCall City Council at its regular meeting last week.
The project, which is expected to be complete in 2022, will expand the existing one-story, 30,000 square-foot hospital into an approximately 65,000 square-foot facility.
The work will add a new two-story addition, demolish the 1950s-era Eastern half of the existing hospital and remodel the 1990s-era Western half.
The new design will improve the efficiency of the hospital's operations as well as provide more privacy for patients, according to hospital officials.
The additional space will enable the hospital to increase its emergency bays from five to eight, operating rooms from two to three and patient rooms from 12 to 15.
The first floor of the addition will house the emergency department and will include a separate ambulance entrance. Other departments like medical imaging, lab and infusion will also be housed on the first floor.
The second floor will include 13 inpatient rooms, two labor and delivery rooms, inpatient physical therapy and an inpatient pharmacy.
The second floor will also house three operating rooms, one procedure room and eight to 10 pre-operating and post-operating recovery bays.
Roads need to be Re-worked and Re-surfaced
Reconstruction of streets abutting the hospital property began last summer, including widened drive lanes, bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
Nearly nine miles of city streets will be resurfaced this summer after the McCall City Council awarded a contract for the work at its regular meeting last Thursday.
The work will involve applying a thin, smooth layer of asphalt over existing roads to provide a wearing surface, McCall Public Works Director Nathan Stewart said.
"We can save these roads for 20 to 40 years without having to rebuild them," Stewart said of the benefit of resurfacing every five to 15 years. Keep a look out for road work this Summer.

Registration begins at 9:30am and ends at 11am on the Canoe Grill Patio . You'll want to arrive early because we're only accepting 100 competitors. Participants must be 13 years and older- those under 18 years of age should bring a parent or guardian to sign the release waiver. Click here for all the information.
 Competitors will be judged on four criteria:
- Style: How steezy, easy, or ticky you make it look.
- Outfit: The retro-est onesies, tutu's, superhero outfits, wetsuits, prom dresses- We don't care, just wear something and make it cool- (Keep it family friendly for the kiddo's)!
- Cross: If you cross it the first time, you will go again from a lower distance.
- Wipe-out: Biggest splash, hardest hit, or largest waves.

Real Estate Sales Update
2018 Wrap up
The first two months on 2019 did not see home sales slow down and inventory is low, as it always is in the winter. With the low inventory the demand is still high and sales have continued to be up from last year.
Home sales in the entire area have increased 14% from the 12 months before. However land sales have not kept up with only a 6% increase and most of those sales are in the Donnelly and McCall areas.
