RE: CERT Coordinator Update
Dear CERT Team Members,
I wanted to take a moment and update everyone on the shared CERT Coordinator and the process to fill the position. Through an unanticipated administrative process, we are slightly delayed. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved the official Job Description and the item is on the January 8, 2019 agenda under their Consent Calendar. Once officially approved, we will immediately start the recruitment for the position. We are anticipate filling the position by the end of February.
In the interim, Redwood City Fire Captain Dave Gillette will be serving as the liaison between CERT and the Fire Department. The plan has always been that Dave would serve as the liaison between the Fire Department, the CERT Coordinator, and the CERT team. Dave voluntarily offered his services prior to the community input/feedback meetings that occurred in 2018 and some of you may have met him at a few of those meetings. This will help with having one main point of contact from the Fire Department. For now, if you would like to reach Dave, please contact him at (650) 780-7423. Once the new CERT Coordinator is in place, we will share contact details with you. In working with the Sheriff, the shared interest is to have the CERT Coordinator working out of Redwood City Fire Station 9.
On Friday February 1, the Sequoia High School Health Careers Academy will be doing their skills evaluation day at Fire Station 9. Some CERT members have volunteered to conduct the evaluations as in the past. Captain Gillette is coordinating the day and will be contacting the volunteer evaluators. Thank you to those that are volunteering!
