ADAA Resources for Girls and Women
Anxiety
Women are nearly twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with an anxiety disorder in their lifetime. In the past year, prevalence of any anxiety disorder was higher for females (23.4%) than for males (14.3%).

Depression
Feeling sad, lonely and scared are normal reactions, however, for individuals who are diagnosed with depression, these feelings tend to be more severe as they persist.

Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are illnesses that involve irregular eating habits and a severe concern about body weight, shape or overall appearance. They affect both genders, although rates among women and girls are 2.5 times greater than among men and boys.

Postpartum Disorders
Following childbirth, other known as "postpartum", women may experience postpartum disorders that can affect their mental health. The high hormonal changes and fluctuations that occur during and after childbirth could cause mothers to feel intense mood swings called "the baby blues" which affects 80% of mothers.

ADAA Taking Action - Raising Awareness Supporters
Nova & Skye is a lounge-wear brand that supports anxiety and mental health awareness. In July of 2018, Marisa Brincat was working at her part-time job and realized it was time for a change. As someone who had suffered with anxiety for several years, Marisa felt happiest and most constructive when working on a positive project. She sparked the idea of starting a lounge-wear brand.

Vasvi Mukerjee, a recent graduate from Shillington School of Graphic Design, New York, created this campaign ' Anxiety Comes In All Shapes & Sizes' as a student project to help spread awareness about the rising issue of anxiety and how people can help themselves and others by reaching out to ADAA.
