VBS SLIDESHOW

Our very first virtual VBS was a success! We're grateful for all of our leaders and participants, and hope you learned a little, laughed a little, and felt the loving support of Christian community in this time when in-person VBS was not an option. Many thanks to Deborah, who collected your pictures and found a way to capture the week in this slideshow. We hope it will bring back happy thoughts of a week we virtually spent together!

WCPSS CALLS FOR VOLUNTEERS

Activate Good is partnering with the Wake County Public School System to begin the process of giving out 40,000+ Chromebook laptops to children all across Wake County. They are in desperate need of volunteers to help hand out the laptops, ensuring families are set up for virtual learning in the fall. This volunteer effort will take place at five different locations around Wake County: Apex High School (Apex), Enloe High School (Raleigh), Leesville High School (Raleigh), Knightdale High School (Knightdale), and South Garner High School (Garner). Volunteers will be able to select their desired location as they sign-up. Shifts begin Monday, August 17 ,and continue through mid-September, or earlier if laptops have been distributed before then. Shifts are 3-4 hours each and will run Mondays through Saturdays. Volunteers are able to sign up to help once or many times, and are especially encouraged to sign up for multiple shifts, or all shifts for a whole day when available. For further questions, email Leah.

DISASTER RELIEF TEAM

As hurricane season officially begins, we are in the midst of putting together an FBC disaster relief team. We know that many projects, including our involvement, will need to change due to the realities of COVID-19. We still know that there definitely will be a need this fall, and we want to begin the work of assembling a small team to respond. If you are interested in being contacted about future disaster response opportunities, please email Leah.
CLOTHING MINISTRY UPDATE

The Clothing Ministry team is still at work making new policies and procedures as we plan for the fall. During this time, we are still not accepting new donations. If you have spring/summer clothing that you would like to donate, we would encourage you to give them to Note in the Pocket or the Raleigh Rescue Mission Thrift Store. As we continue to monitor COVID-19, we will keep you updated as plans develop for accepting donations and re-opening. Thank you to all of the volunteers that signed up to help us clear out our donations this week!
AAWC'S WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Each week, we'll start posting And Also With 'Cue's weekly schedule. We post this on our Facebook page, but we want to make sure you all have this information as well. We will let you know our regular lunch schedule and if there will be outside events on the weekend for you to attend!

Come eat with us this week:
August 11-14, 11am-1:30pm (or sold out)
church parking lot
August 14, 5-7:30pm • Oakwood Neighborhood, 513 N Bloodworth Street

SLIGHT CHANGE OF OFFICE PROCEDURES

While the church office will remain closed to the public for the immediate future, we will have someone in the office Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm to answer the phone and let people in for pre-approved activities (mail, janitorial, and food deliveries; maintenance work; and a few small meetings). The staff and church council continue to monitor all realities related to COVID-19. In addition, we are in the process of forming a risk management advisory group that will help us make decisions related to reopening. We still encourage you to contact any of the ministers if you have a pressing need, using the following email links: Chris Chapman, Mary Alice Seals, Trey Davis, Lynn Lingafelt, and Leah Reed.
WAYS TO GIVE

There are several different ways in which you can continue to support the church financially during this time of social distancing. We know many people are facing their own financial challenges right now and have been very generous already, but a number of people have asked how they could support the church while we are unable to gather together physically. Wayne Hager has provided the following answers to this question.

• We continue to receive mail daily. Any gifts mailed to the church will be processed and deposited as soon as possible.
• We will continue to debit bank accounts through auto drafts as we have been instructed by donors.
• If you have set up a recurring donation through one of our electronic options, those donations will continue without interruption unless YOU make a change.
• If you wish to begin electronic giving, please go to this link where each of our options is explained.
• If you are considering a stock gift, please visit this link for instructions.

If you have any financial or giving-option questions, please email Wayne Hager.
