Commonwealth Honors

The Commonwealth Honors Academy is a summer option for students going into their senior year.   It is a three-week program (June 8th - June 29th, 2019) at Murray State University.   This is a great opportunity for students as they earn six college credits while experiencing the environment of a post-secondary institution.

 Benefits:
Cost:  $195 tuition processing fee

ACT for ALL Juniors

On March 12th, all juniors will be taking the ACT exam.   This is administered by our state and is free for all students.  Mark your calendar now and if there are any schedule conflicts such as doctor appointments, if at all possible, move those to a different day so your child will not miss the state administered ACT exam.
The ACT is an achievement test that can help determine your level of knowledge from what you have learned in school so far. You will be tested in Math, English, Science, and Reading to gauge your understanding of these topics and how comprehensive your knowledge is.

You may ask what does the ACT score mean?   The highest score you can achieve is 36. The way your score is determined is a bit complicated, but it can provide for an accurate reading of your skills in several areas at once. Most four-year colleges/universities require a score in the range 18-22 for admission. No points are deducted for wrong answers. Each test score is based on the scores you received on the sections within each test.   Those test scores from each area are averaged to create a composite score. This is your overall or final score.

The ACT can benefit you in several ways.   A good score could bring you one step closer to the college you have always wanted to attend or the extra scholarship money to pay for college. You are also being tested on what you actually know rather than your ability to take a test.
