and You Can Still Join!
The Halacha 24/7/12 Project at TABC is running full steam ahead.  More than eighty current students and more than forty alumni are following our program as active and voluntary participants.  Rabbi Raphi
Mandelstam sets the  pace and "assignments" for the group, Rabbi  Yoni  Mandelstam runs the WhatsApp group that  keeps the  program running and Rabbi  Adler and Rabbi Jachter record brief halachic insights almost daily to enhance the learning.

What a beautiful enhancement this program has made to the spiritual development of our talmidim!  Baruch Hashem the program has been wildly popular and we hope to keep on adding more participants.  To join Rabbi Yoni Mandelstam's WhatsApp group, click  here.
TABC Performs Treasure Island
On Thursday, January 3rd, the TABC Theater Department performed the play Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, adapted for the stage by Stuart Paterson, to an audience filled with friends, family and TABC faculty. The play is about a young boy named Jim Hawkins, who stumbles upon a map to the treasure of the notorious pirate Captain Flint. He gets pulled into an exhilarating adventure full of action, betrayal, and, of course, sword fights. We see Jim find the courage to do things he never thought he would be able to do, and ultimately achieve his goal. The Theater Dept at TABC attracts student actors and techies in grades 9-12. Student actors attended bi weekly rehearsals since September and techies hopped on board in November. Sound, lights, props and set were all student created and run. Over 25 students had a hand in bringing this production to the stage! Directed by Rebecca Lopkin, Director of Performing Arts and produced by her company, Envision Theater, this show marks her 5th collaboration at TABC. Next up, A Few Good Men in the spring!

Leadership Kollel Welcomes
Rabbi Daniel Stein
Yesterday, our Leadership Kollel had the privilege of hearing from YU Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Daniel Stein .  Rabbi Stein presented a dynamic and wide ranging analysis of leadership in the Torah world based on aspects of Moshe and Aharon's unique characteristics and leadership decisions.  Rabbi Stein highlighted the fact that self sacrifice and sensitivity to the greater good are aspects of leadership that must be present for a leader to be successful. We were thrilled to have Rabbi Stein among a distinguished group of guest speakers who address the Leadership Kollel throughout the year. The Leadership Kollel provides motivated students with the opportunity to be a part of a specialized limudei kodesh program at TABC. It  is a two-year commitment beginning in 9th grade. The program aims to empower young leaders and train our students to become active participants of talmud Torah in our local Jewish community and beyond.
Matmidim Shabbaton in Passaic
On erev Shabbat last week 25 12th grade boys from Matmidim headed to the Kessel home in Passaic. They davened at their rebbe's house, led by Dovid Pearlman and were also joined by Rav Yitz Rabovsky.  After the seudah the boys went to a local Beit Midrash for a night seder. They returned to the Kessel house for a tisch which finally ended at 11:45!  The students led a local Shabbat morning minyan with Yonadav Rimberg and Ben Antosofsky davening for the amud.  After a lavish kiddush the Matmidim had an hour-long morning seder before another delicious suedah at the Kessel home. This time they were joined by Rabbi Einhorn and his family.  After Mincha the boys had an hour break where some boys learned or played mini hockey in the Kessel basement, while others took a well earned nap. The boys walked to the Einhorn's for an inspirational seudah shlishit and havdalah. The melava malka was held at TABC as the STORM finished off the beautiful weekend with a 8-0 victory against Rambam. A huge thanks to Rebbetzin Rachel Kessel and Rebbetzin Elana Einhorn for making this incredible Shabbat for the Matmidim
STORM Report
TABC Storm Varsity Hockey Now 9-2

TABC Varsity Hockey continued its impressive streak last week, earning wins at MTA and JEC  and a home win over Rambam. The Varsity Storm now boasts a 9-2 record for the 2018-2019 season. The Storm brought a barrage of offense in each game led by Ben Englander, Akiva Hain, Avraham Gellman, Shlomo Gellman, Yonadav Rimberg, Jake Rothenberg, Eli Schiff, and Elli Spinowitz. The impenetrable TABC defense, featuring Joe Baron, ET Dubin, Yechiel Keiser, Natan Rifkind, Ezra Seplowitz, and Isaac Shapiro, allowed only one goal in 3 games. Charles Gibber and Avrumi Davis were stellar in goal, denying TABC's opponents scoring opportunities. TABC is proud of the way its student athletes conduct themselves in the classroom and on the court.
TABC Storm JV Hockey Clinches Playoff Spot

TABC's Storm JV Hockey team overpowered both the Rambam Ravens Saturday night and the Frisch Cougars on Wednesday night with shut-out victories. On Saturday night the Storm was led on offense by Zachary Levy, Jonah Gerson, Ezra Kopstick, and Yosef Fleischman. The defense, featuring Jonah Elzweig in goal, was led by Eli Blumenfeld, Baruch Schmukler-Karpov, Tzvi Naor, and Aaron Teitelbaum. The JV team boasts a 7-1 record and the Rambam win clinched a playoff spot for the team. TABC JV Hockey has made the playoffs an incredible 22 straight years and continues to be a model of excellence on and off the court.
