One Year Ago Today - We Officially Opened
St Joe's Health & Wellness Center!
|
|
On January 7, 2018, St Joseph High School officially cut the ribbon on our newly constructed Health & Wellness Center!
Since then, the 4,500 square foot facility has been in constant use:
- During the summer, more than 100 of our student-athletes used the gym each day;
- Athletic teams receive training from our Director of Health & Wellness, Alisha Thresher;
- Freshmen and Sophomore students have enrolled in our Fitness for Life and Introduction to Health & Wellness classes - geared toward lifelong fitness habits, and instruction in diet and nutrition;
- Parents and Alumni have signed up for our popular adult fitness bootcamp class on Saturdays!

Nancy DiBuono, Assistant Principal for Curriculum & Instruction
Often working behind the scenes, Mrs DiBuono has helped implement many of the changes in program and curriculum that have helped position St Joes as the premiere college preparatory program in southern Connecticut. She has helped increase Advanced Placement offerings and launched such courses as Engineering, Aeronautic Engineering, Statistics, and Broadcast Journalism. She also spends a great deal of time observing classroom instruction, promoting teacher professional development, and ensuring the quality of such programs as Campus Ministry and Guidance. Mrs DiBuono has the full confidence of the Principal, Dr Keane, and serves in his absence whenever he is off-site. A former grammar school principal at All Saints Catholic School, she has been tirelessly devoted to the SJHS community for the past eight years. Helping freshmen transition into high school and then seeing them mature into great young men and women is why she loves her job.
In her spare time, Mrs DiBuono is a die-hard Mets fan and a big Bruce Springsteen fan!

Midterms Begin This Week:
Tips on Staying Calm and Prepared
|
|
Mid-Term Exams begin tomorrow.
It’s that time of year again - the rigor of study guides, late nights, and, of course taking exams. Here are a few tips to keep you or your student calm during exam week:
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Eat a good breakfast.
- Stop studying an hour before the test.
- Do not talk about the test with other students once you get there.
- Don’t be your own worst enemy! Positive self talk is a very powerful tool.
- Take a deep relaxing breath.
- Ask for help. Know that faculty and staff are always here to support you.
So, relax and do your best. Good luck!
