EHRP Testimonial
By Jose Zepeda

Hello my name is Jose Zepeda. I am a senior graduating in June 2018 and am the Events Coordinator and member of the 2018 board of directors for CSUSB SHRM Student Chapter.

I had the pleasure of being invited to attend IE SHRM's Legal Update last week. This four-hour meeting was hosted by IE SHRM with speakers from Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud, & Romo (AALRR) who provided tips and trends for 2018.

This was my first IE SHRM meeting, thanks to our president, Marie Gonzales and the CSUSB SHRM Chapter. I approached this new experience with an open mind and willingness to help in any way. Upon arrival, IE SHRM's board members greeted me.  I immediately asked how I could help with the setup or if anybody needed help. Luckily, they took me up on my offer and put me to work with Yazbel Curtis. I helped set up every attendee's seats with an information packet.

Afterwards there was a shortage with registration personnel and I was asked to volunteer.  During this, I was able to experience how the registration process works and was able to meet active HR professionals before the meeting started. My overall experience was fantastic and i look forward to participating again in the future.

I personally recommend getting involved in as many IE SHRM meetings and events your class schedule permits. These experiences can provide you with learning and networking opportunities that can help you in the future.
