The Chamber held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of The Edge Performing Arts Center and Cutting Edge Custom Tees at 721 Main St. on March 30th.

Shindigs Bar & Grill celebrated their one year anniversary by "breaking the chain" instead of a traditional ribbon cutting.

CMS Offering Dance Lessons
 
The Community Music School (CMS) at Southwestern College is offering dance lessons and classes this summer with Sheila Harding. The dance classes will take place on Saturdays and Sundays starting May 19 and ending July 29 in the Helen Graham Little Theatre on Southwestern's campus. The CMS is offering these classes to the community for anyone who is middle-school age and older.
Harding is a choreographer and dance instructor and has taught dance residentially at many competitive studios around the United States.

Saturday classes include dance techniques from 3 to 4 p.m., ballet from 4 to 5:30 p.m., tap from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and hip hop from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday classes include jazz from 4 to 5 p.m., and jazz funk heels from 5 to 6 p.m. Private dance lessons with Harding can be set for one hour a week. Pricing for the classes begin at $45 per month, two classes a month for $90, three classes a month for $80, four classes a month for $70, five classes per month for $60, and all six classes a month for $50.

Upcoming Classes at McDonalds Sewing and Vacuum

On April 25th, Husqvarna Viking is sending one of their educators for a test drive event.  People will be able to use one of our new machines to try their hand at embroidery, quilting, applique and more.

On April 28th, people will be able to come in and try out our new Sergers.  It will be an opportunity for them to find out what a Serger really is, and if it is something they need.

On May 4th and 5th (same event repeated next day) our own Dalene McDonald, who is a Designs in Machine Embroidery (DIME) Inspiration Consultant, will be conducting a Design Workshop.  It is geared around embroidery and quilting.  Dalene has traveled all over the country presenting this program for DIME, and we are fortunate to have her to present it here in Cowley County.

  • Responsible for managing business and programmatic matters of the agency in accordance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, Mosaic standards and within budgetary guidelines.
  • Duties include overseeing all program services, personnel management, financial management, and community and public relations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience in a related field, with two years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Previous successful experience in budget management and human resources preferred.
