Recent
Community Baby Shower
Women United participated at the Jackson County and Dubuque County Community Baby Showers this month! These showers are an opportunity for pregnant women or families with children under the age of 1, that are low to moderate income, to learn about the resources in their community. These events allowed Women United to share information on their Sprout Into Reading program and the importance of early literacy.

Read Across America

As part of the "Read Across America" day on March 2, in celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, Women United organized readers to visit Dubuque Community and Holy Family Catholic Schools. Volunteers had fun sharing "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?" and a related activity with over 1200 children in 60 classrooms.   A drawing was held for the book in each classroom, and each of the students received a Dr. Seuss bookmark to take home. Many local "celebrities" participated in the festivities to help children celebrate Dr. Seuss and share their love of reading.
