There's More Below. We understand that there is a tendency to view the top/beginning of a web site or newsletter, and then to move on, thinking that anything of importance is at the top and the bottom is a waste. It's true we place new or important TCC announcements, transferware news, and events listings at the top, but there is a world of value to the middle and bottom of our eNews. We rotate new entries every month to our regular features, including Featured Books, Featured Articles, and Information Websites and Blogs. So, please, page down and sample our monthly offerings.

Please remember to donate to the TCC when you renew. Donations are used for our educational programs. Renew now.

Tile Display of the Month - Examples from the TCC Database
|
Many of our members were simply blown away by the beauty of the individual and grouped transferware tiles portrayed by our speaker, Hans van Lemmen, at our 2017 meeting in Phoenix, and in the recent TCC Bulletin article by Connie Rogers, "Anatomy of Tiles" (TCC Bulletin Vol. XIX, No. 2, September 2018). Featured tiles in Connie's article are documented in the TCC Database of Patterns and Sources.
We (your eNews editor) were particularly struck by tile groupings prepared by our DB Image Editor, Kurt O'Hare. Thus, a new eNews feature was born. Featured herein is a 24 image composite prepared by Kurt of a maker unknown tile assigned the name Fluffy Floral Time (DB Pattern No. 17790). We'll have more every month!

Where do Patterns come from? or Who decided Delaware looked like this?
by Pat Halfpenny
Along with many TCC members, I have often speculated on how transfer printed patterns originated and how new patterns evolved. This paper, inspired by my reflections on the subject, is based on a group of plates in The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent, which give us a deeper understanding of this subject.
