Location:  528 West Main Street
Date: May 15, 2018
Time: 5:00 - 8:00 pm

Evan Williams  is hosting us this month in their Signature Bar room.  Glen Buckner of Allegion - Overtur (AIA KY Sponsor) will be presenting on "Electrified Hardware" for 1 HSW credit.  The 1 hour program and dinner will be followed by an optional 1 hour tour with bourbon tasting ($25 for tour and tasting).  The tour will be led by designers from Solid Light, Inc.

Information on the AIA CEU Seminar:
Allegion's Overturâ„¢ is a cloud-based suite of tools where architects and door hardware consultants can come together to collaborate on specifications and the security design of doors and openings. These tools provide a centralized place to capture and maintain door hardware requirements and decisions.
Overtur focuses on four key areas of functionality to drive productivity, collaboration and coordination throughout the design process.
  1. Upload door data, schedules and plans directly from a Building Information Model (BIM).
  2. Review designs in an online environment where you can easily capture decisions and requirements about your project's hardware.
  3. Transfer door data - including electrical requirements - to and from Allegion to help shorten the specification cycle.
  4. Graphically track and review the important changes to openings and hardware selections

This exhibition entitled Design in Louisville | Architecture Projects on Review features the research-driven projects of undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Kentucky, College of Design-School of Architecture. The student projects, developed in 2017 and 2018 and set in Louisville, Kentucky include Studio Louisville led by Jeanne Gang (Studio Gang) - the Brown Forman Endowed Visiting Professor and David Biagi - Director of Studio Louisville. The exhibit also contains studio investigations taken under the direction of Jeffrey R. Johnson - Director of the School of Architecture, Professors Anne Filson, Jill Leckner, and Dr. Gregory Luhan, the John Russell Groves Endowed Professor of Architecture. Individually and collectively the projects analyze and communicate the physical, regulatory and social attributes of urban sites throughout Louisville. The projects, from Main Street to the Portland Neighborhood, interrogate comprehensive programs based on an analysis of both quantitative and immersive research and balance programmatic demands that result in holistic, integrated architectural strategies. The design solutions include both passive and active facades that express approaches to environmental conditions related to ecology and access. The challenges set forth by the various design projects also serve as activated departure points for a variety of real-world and speculative projects. The projects vary in scale to investigate affordable modular housing, fabrication spaces, art storage and exhibition, 21st-century learning environments, urban parks and farmers markets, performing arts complexes, and full-scale construction.
