Hunger-Free Holidays - It's a Wrap!

The Caring Place "Hunger-Free Holidays" Food Drive is over and we have BIG news!  With YOUR help, we collected 317,998 pounds of food between October and December in 2018!  This was a magnificent accomplishment.  We exceeded our goal of 225,000 pounds, and we could not have done this without you!  Thank you for making Food Drives fun and part of the caring culture we have among businesses, faith-based and civic organizations and neighbors in our community!  We are so grateful that you made giving a priority in 2018!

What About the Community Benefit?

When donating to and shopping for items at Second Helping and The Shops at The Caring Place, you are helping to fund programs and services that help our community.   Sales from both stores MORE than cover the operating costs at The Caring Place.  This means when you make a financial contribution, 100% of it directly impacts neighbors in need.  Where should you shop?

2000 Railroad Avenue | Monday-Saturday, 9am-4pm | Thursdays until 7pm

Second Helping

Our newsletters typically include lots of ways to help The Caring Place, but we thought we'd start the year by highlighting one in this section.  Have you ever heard of The Good Neighbor Fund?

The City of Georgetown is proud to sponsor the Good Neighbor Fund, a program to assist eligible Georgetown Utility customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bill. Voluntary contributions from customers like you fund this program, which is administered by The Caring Place on behalf of the City. Every dollar helps!   Contributions can be made to the fund by paying the total due on your utility bill, plus one dollar. You are also able to make a monthly pledge, which will be billed to your utility bill, and can be canceled at any time for those families paying their bill electronically.

You can enroll in this program by simply checking the box on your utility bill each month and writing the check for $1 more, or by completing the pledge form on-line at the  City's website or by picking up the pledge form at the City offices at 300-I Industrial Avenue or at The Caring Place.

Did a holiday gift from The Caring Place inspire you to DIY?  Have you walked in The Caring Place lately and thought, "I could make something with that!"  Tell us all about it!
