YC Christmas Cash is Back!
In order to maintain the lowest tuition fee possible, each family is asked to participate in 2 fundraisers per year (actual cost per pupil is over $10,000.00).

YC Christmas Cash calendars are being sold for $25 October 9-30.  Each calendar purchased will have a four-digit number and will enter the buyer in a daily drawing for the month of December.  Each day of December has a different payout assigned.  When we pull a purchaser's calendar number on a specific date in December, they will win the amount noted on that date (we are not using PA Lottery numbers).  Every purchaser has 31 chances to win, coordinating with the 31 days of the month.  Winners will be posted on the YC website at www.yorkcatholic.org, and will be notified by email.  The winner does not need to be present to win.  Winning amounts will be mailed weekly.

All orders will be placed online this year.  Click HERE to place your order beginning tomorrow, October 9.  Numbered calendars labeled with the purchaser's name will be sent home to the selling family for distribution after November 2.  Parents will be notified via email when calendars are being sent home.

Students will be learning about the fundraiser tomorrow.  Detailed information about the raffle and prizes was mailed home this week; please check your mailbox.

If you have any questions about the YC Christmas Cash calendar raffle, please contact Mrs. Gick at [email protected] or 717-846-8871 x317.

Thank you in advance for making this a successful fall fundraiser!
Revised Schedule Reminder

We have been fortunate to be approved by the College Board to administer the SAT exam at York Catholic for YC seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The date, Wednesday, October 14, coincides with the same date our juniors are scheduled to take the PSAT.  Because of this, we have a few school calendar adjustments for October.

Friday, October 9, will now be a full school day instead of a half day.

Monday, October 12, we will still be closed for Columbus Day.

Wednesday, October 14, will be a half-day for faculty and staff and no school for grades 7-10.  All 11th graders will have a half-day in the morning to take the PSAT (not optional), and 12th graders who registered will attend for a half-day in the morning to take the SAT (optional).

For best results on the PSAT and SAT, students should have a good night's rest and eat a good breakfast on testing day.  Students need to come prepared with #2 pencils as well as a graphic or scientific calculator.  The PSAT tests students on Reading, Writing, and Math, and is an invaluable practice test preceding the SAT.  Practice test manuals were distributed in homerooms last month, and juniors are encouraged to take time to become familiar with the test format.  Any questions regarding the test or scoring may be directed to Mrs. Eva Phillips in the guidance office at 717-846-8871 x432 or [email protected].

VERY IMPORTANT!  School districts will be providing busing to York Catholic the morning of October 14, but will not be providing busing home from York Catholic at the end of testing.  Students must make arrangements for their own transportation home from York Catholic on October 14.
Picture Day
Lifetouch is the exclusive photography vendor for York Catholic.  All students in grades 7-11 will have their yearbook pictures taken Friday, October 9, from 8:30-11:30 AM at YC. Virtual Distance Learning students who wish to have their picture taken should report to school by 7:30 AM.  Students must be in uniform.  Families are under no obligation to purchase a package, but all students will be photographed for the yearbook.  For those families wishing to place a photo order, please know there are no paper order forms.  You can place orders online by going to www.mylifetouch.com and using Picture Day ID# EVT2MKZPHOrders must be placed by October 10, at 6 PM Pictures will be distributed to students in approximately 4 weeks.

Families who choose to order online will receive a bonus of a Shutterfly 8x8 photobook and a $30 voucher towards anything on the Shutterfly/YorkCatholic site at yorkcatholic.shutterflystorefront.com.  This is a great complement to package offerings as each package includes the digital image for you to use as you wish. The $14.99 package (1-8x10, 2-5x7s and the digital image) should more than cover all your school portrait needs when bundled with the Shutterfly voucher.

In addition to the portrait photos, Lifetouch also takes candid action shots at sporting events, music events, and school events throughout the school year that are available for purchase.  These photos are posted on the YC website under Current Students-Resources-Photos.  http://yorkcatholic.org/current-students/resources/photos/

Special Note for Parents of Seniors:

YC Athletics Ticket Policy & Livestreams
This week, Governor Wolf amended existing COVID-19 orders to allow for adjusted capacity to gathering limits while keeping in place the proven mitigation tools that include wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.  The Governor's adjusted order allows for 20% capacity for indoor events and 25% capacity for outdoor events. Those numbers include players/participants, coaches, trainers, security, medical, athletic game management, etc. The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) has instructed schools to follow the State of Pennsylvania directives regarding these capacity limits. With that direction, beginning Friday, October 9, York Catholic will follow these spectator guidelines:

Varsity Football Games (including Marching Band & Cheerleaders)
We will allocate 2 tickets per YC student participant, per home game. The tickets will be given to the head coach/moderator to be given to each YC student participant.  The admission gate will open at 6:15 PM.

JV and Junior High Football Games
We will allocate 2 tickets per player, per game. The tickets will be given to the head coach to be given to each player.

Boys and Girls Soccer Games
We will allocate 2 tickets per player, per game. The tickets will be given to the head coach to be given to each player.

Girls Volleyball Games
We will allocate 2 tickets per player, per game. The tickets will be given to the head coach to be given to each player.

Cross Country Meets and Golf Matches
Both sports are off of our property in public places. While we do not regulate our off-site venues, we ask that all of our spectators respect our host parks and courses and observe social distancing guidelines and Pennsylvania's face covering mandate. York Catholic fans are expected to follow the 2 people per player rule at these events.  No fans will be permitted at the end of season league tournament.

Tennis Matches
Unfortunately, York Catholic was informed by Penn State York that, due to COVID-19, we could not use their courts for our home tennis matches this season. As a result, all matches will be away matches. Therefore, we need to follow the opposing teams' rules, which, as of now, do not allow for any away fans at tennis matches.  No fans will be permitted at the end of season league tournament.

General Rules for Home YC Athletic Events
  • All fans will be asked COVID-19 screening questions before entering.
  • All fans MUST wear face coverings during the events on school property.
  • Fans must maintain at least a 6 feet social distance between themselves and the fans near them, unless they reside in the same household.
  • Spectators will not be permitted to stand outside the fence area and watch the games. Any spectator doing so will be asked to leave.
  • All spectators must remain in the designated bleacher/sitting areas.
  • Spectators may not stand on the blacktop track around turf or grass areas.
  • All spectators will be asked to leave immediately after a game is completed. No congregating or meeting the players on or around the field/gym will be permitted.
  • For outdoor events, use of indoor school facilities will not be available. Portable restrooms will be available at the field.
  • No concession stands will be open during the games. No outside food or beverages are permitted at games.
  • No visiting fans will be permitted.  York Catholic fans are also not permitted at away games.  This is a reciprocal agreement among all teams in the league.
  • Tickets are not transferable. Any tickets that will not be used must be returned to the student's head coach prior to the game.
  • There will be no re-entry to athletic events. Please be sure to bring everything from your vehicle that you will need during the event.
  • Stadium admission will be from the school-side gate only. The alley gate will not be used this season.

Conclusion
This is and will be a fluid plan. We will continue to adjust as needed based on updated direction from the governing bodies (PA, PIAA, YAIAA). The safety protocols for all involved (participants, staff, and fans) are our first priority. The next priority is to give the students as many events as we can to get the full experience of middle and high school. We all understand having the support of parents, friends, and classmates is important to the students performing. At this time providing the students performing the experience they have earned is the goal. We ask all fans to comply with the rules and regulations we are under today so the students will not lose the opportunity of those experiences in the future.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
