Chesterfield Seeks Officers of Election
|
|
Chesterfield County recently announced a $100 recruitment bonus to poll workers selected to work during the Nov. 3 General Election.
Officers of Election are registered voters who play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of the election and assisting voters in having a successful and enjoyable voting experience.
Chesterfield currently boasts more than 1,300 officers of election. However, an overwhelming number of those officers are over the age of 65, and with the growing concerns about the resurgence of COVID-19 in the fall, the Registrar’s Office is preparing for several of those officers to potentially sit out this election.

Chesterfield Ranks No. 1
Among Leading "Digital Counties"
|
|
For the 11th consecutive year, Chesterfield County continues to set an example for the innovative use of technology in local government, earning the top spot in the 2020 Digital Counties Survey. This is the fourth time being ranked No. 1 since 2010 among counties nationwide with populations between 250,000 and 499,000. Additionally, the county has placed in the top 10 each year since 2010, including nine times in the top 5.
The Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties recently announced the winners of the 18th annual Digital Counties Survey. The survey identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties, including initiatives that streamline delivery of government services, encourage open data, collaboration and shared services, enhance cybersecurity and contribute to disaster response and recovery efforts.
Survey judges identified a wide range of efforts across several areas in determining Chesterfield’s ranking. The survey notes that Chesterfield “handled sudden work-from-home orders well in part due to its 10-year technology modernization plan and enterprise approach to data-driven government.” Examples that were highlighted were “StratIS” (Strategic Information Sharing) data program and the county’s chatbot, “ChesterBot,” which helped the county manage a sudden surge in phone call volume during the pandemic’s initial stages.
The county’s IST department will be recognized at the Sept. 23 Board of Supervisors meeting.

Meet Hera!
In Greek mythology, Hera means goddess of family and this pretty girl just happens to be looking for a family of her own! Hera came in as a stray with small wounds on her ears that the vet suspects were from mosquito bites. The wounds have resolved, but she does have some scars (or beauty marks as we call them) that will probably always be visible.
Hera enjoys laying around, but is incredibly affectionate! She wants all the pets from head to toe and she will purr up a storm, too! Hera loves her food but would benefit from a bit of a diet. She is not the biggest fan of being picked up and would rather have all feet always on the ground. Set in her ways, Hera needs to be the only kitty in the home.

Hera is 7 years old and weighs 8.5 pounds. Animal #573559
