3/21/19 - More Than Just Teaching: Creating an Intentional Classroom Environment

Intentional teaching involves teachers being thoughtful, purposeful and deliberate in their decisions and actions. When preschool teachers use intentional teaching practices they take a more active role in the children's learning. This training will demonstrate how to set up the environment in a developmentally appropriate way to support a variety of instructional strategies in order to be intentional when teaching concepts to preschool children.

3/27/19 - Classroom Organization: Let's Take a Look Around My Classroom

Let's take a look around your classroom together. We will talk about classroom set-up, look at sample room pictures, and discuss the pros and cons of room arrangement. This training will provide you with the tools to go back into the classroom and check off how you can create a warm, safe, and productive environment. After this training, you will be able to ask yourself and answer these questions: "What areas should be together?", "Where should my circle time go?", "Can I move things around the room?", and "How will these changes support my children and the staff?"

4/3/19 - Let's Talk: Simple Strategies for Improving Classroom Conversations

Get your School Readiness classrooms prepared to be assessed with the CLASS tool in compliance with HB 1091. This training will provide teachers with strategies to expand conversations with children throughout the daily activities of a Pre-k classrooms. Strategies learned will include effective ways to increase vocabulary, increase quality of feedback, promote advanced language, and linking concepts to the real world with intensity and frequency. Participants will engage in hands-on activities that practice and model back and forth exchanges using previously mentioned strategies and conversations between teachers and children in their daily activities.

3/20/19 - Mental Health Red Flags

A shocking statistic is that nearly one in five children has a mental illness. This training will help us become aware of mental health red flags. The session will give participants ideas about what to look out for and what resources are available in the community.
