December in Truro...
This month, days will be shortened slowly by 13 minutes until we reach the winter solstice on Thursday, December 21st, the shortest daylight day of the year.
Shorter days will drop the average high temperature to 41°F, with average lows of 28°F. We get about 7 days of rain and snow with an average total of 4 inches of rain and 7 inches of snow. Expect 2 out of 3 nights to dip below freezing.

Truro Recycling
Swap Shack Update: The building has been torn down, and "Test pits" have been sampled and sent off to the DEP. We are awaiting results which will outline any required remediation. We are hoping that a new building will be up and running by springtime. Stay tuned! In the meantime, please consider bringing salable items to our local thrift shops or Mass Appeal. All clothes, paired shoes, and fabrics (salable or not) can be put into the white trailer at the Transfer Station. (Click here for thrift shop info.) Have a Happy Holiday Season and be sure to recycle all paper wrapping, packaging, and - if you get one - your tree! Click here for more information about places to donate.
Historical Society

Commission on Disabilities
The Truro Commission on Disabilities is working with town staff and the Truro Recreation Commission to make Puma Park multi-generational and accessible to all. Our plans include a safe, accessible surface; more activities appropriate for children who have mobility or sensory impairments; exercise equipment for adults of all ages, whether able-bodied or disabled; and a walking/wheeling/jogging path around the perimeter of the playground. If you are interested in working on this project, please contact Susan Howe.
Truro Food Pantry
With consideration of our seasonal economy, many Truro neighbors rely on the Food Pantry for assistance during the off-season. This holiday season, please drop off any unopened food at the Truro Community Center or the Truro Library in the FOOD PANTRY donation basket. While you're at it, donations of financial assistance can be sent to the Dexter Keezer Fund at Box 572, Truro, MA 02666 or made online at keezerfund.org. If you are interested in visiting the Pantry or have questions, feel free to call Diane Rose 508-349-3841 or Sally Brotman 508-349-2601.
