Edina Public Schools (EPS) is pleased to announce that all 17 National Merit Semifinalists announced in September 2018 have advanced to finalist standing. These EHS students are among 15,000 students, nationwide, who will continue to compete for Merit Scholarship awards .

Edina High School is ranked the No. 1 Best High School in the state by PolarisList.com . Rankings are based on the number of students who enrolled in the top colleges in the country.

Five Edina middle school Math Team members are advancing to the state MATHCOUNTS competition. After a competitive Minnesota Junior High Math League season, in which Valley View Middle School’s Team earned 912 points out of a maximum 1040 points, the team continued to the Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition and placed first.

 Forty Edina Latin students participated in the annual Ludi Romani State Latin Competition at Minnehaha Academy on January 19. The students represented South View and Valley View Middle Schools and Edina High School.

Edina High School 2016 graduate Brandon Carlson-Clarke has been selected as a semi-finalist for the prestigious Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Carlson-Clarke, a student at Tacoma Community College in Tacoma, Washington, was chosen from a pool of nearly 1,500 applicants.
School Board Update
Listening Session for 2019-20 district budget March 4

District stakeholders have the opportunity to provide input regarding the proposed 2019-20 Budget Alignment Plan at a School Board Listening Session on Monday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in ECC Room 349. The proposed 2019-20 Budget Alignment Plan represents $2.2 million in reductions. The Board received the proposed plan as a discussion item at the Feb. 11 regular meeting. Preliminary approval of the 2019-20 Budget is expected at the March 11 regular meeting, with final approval slated for June.


The next regular meeting of the School Board is Monday, March. 11, at 7 p.m., in ECC Room 349.

 A complete meeting agenda is posted three days prior to the meeting. Regular meetings of the School Board are live streamed on the district's YouTube channel. To watch, click on the YouTube icon at the bottom of every district website page, or find the link on the School Board Meetings web page.
Q&A Sessions are held as requested. View more information about Q&A sessions and the form to submit questions. Questions must be submitted by 3 p.m. one week prior to each session. Sessions are held at 6:30 p.m., prior to a regular Board meeting.

Did you Know?
Forum will center around elementary literacy

Edina Public Schools is hosting a series of forums this school year. These forums are open to parents, students, and educators. Dr. Vicki Weinberg, Specific Learning Disabilities and Implementation Specialist, and Dr. Amy Schulting, State Dyslexia Specialist, from the Minnesota Department of Education will present on elementary literacy and how Edina supports all learners, including students with dyslexia. The forum takes places on March 5 in Fick Auditorium, at Edina High School at 6:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

KSTP featured Jim Burke, an Edina High School graduate. Burke, the producer for the film The Green Book , accepted the Academy Award for Best Picture.

March 6: EHS Story Sharing Night, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Fick Auditorium. Student Mosaic is hosting the first annual Story Sharing Night, an evening filled with stories of hope, reflection, and transformation. Both students and parents will be sharing their stories. Event is free.
March 7: Edina Student Art Show Reception, 6-8 p.m., Edina Library. Join the artists and their families for this reception to celebrate the art created by students from six Edina elementary schools.
March 29: Edina Give and Go event, 6-8 p.m. Braemar Clubhouse. Bring a friend and learn more about the mission and work of Edina Give and Go. Please register for the event.
