Tennessee's 2018 Status of the Suicide Report

The 2018 Status of Suicide in Tennessee provides state legislators, mental health professionals, and the general public with information on the problem of suicide in our state and what is being done to prevent it. Each year's edition includes a detailed report on suicide trends within Tennessee, both overall and for various subgroups, featuring the latest statistics available from the Tennessee Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Suicide trends highlighting the recent release of the 2016 statistics are discussed, broken down by age, race, gender, and geography. The 2018 Status of Suicide in Tennessee Report can be found on the TSPN website at
Increase in suicides the months after the death of Robin Williams in the United States

Suicides across the US increased by 10 percent after Robin Williams died by suicide in 2014 - particularly among middle-aged men and due to the same method that Williams used.  For more information and to review the study visit this link:
TSPN Call for Survivor Stories

In response to our recent needs assessment, the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network (TSPN) is beginning a survivor stories project. Through this project, TSPN is asking for people with lived experiences, with suicide attempts and suicide loss, to share their stories to help reduce stigma around help-seeking and talking about suicide in our state.
We are collecting stories from people who can share their own experience with suicidal thoughts or depression as well as about losses to suicide. We are especially looking to speak with men about their experience, however all stories are welcome. If you have a story to share, please contact Keri Frantell ([email protected] OR 920-728-3793). We would like to have a variety of stories in different formats (videos, audio recordings, written stories, etc.) - and are open to whatever format you'd prefer to share your story.
