We are just a few weeks into the New Year, and 2019 is already proving to be an exciting year. In early January, OED and County Executive Gardner accepted the 2019 County Innovations Award from the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) for ROOT - our business and technology innovation center located at 118 North Market Street in downtown Frederick. Hot off the press is OED's 2018 Annual Report, which takes a look back at company openings and expansions and top economic development results from last year, as well as a preview of what's to come in 2019. 2018 was a monster year for economic development in Frederick County - check out our video and annual report publication to find out why!

ROOT Wins Statewide Innovation Award
Frederick County was recognized at the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Winter Conference with an Innovation Award for ROOT,  our business and innovation center in downtown Frederick.
 
Frederick's Top 50 CEOs Revealed

Frederick's Top 50 CEO list recognizes outstanding leadership in Frederick County. OED received 146 nominations for lead executives, founders, entrepreneurs and company owners of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.


2018 OED Annual Report Now Available
This year's annual report includes gives a glimpse into the success stories and achievements that made 2018 a monster year for Frederick County economic development.  
OED Director Named to Board of Directors for Business Finance Group
OED's Director Helen Propheter was recently named to the Board of Directors for Business Finance Group, a regional Certified Development Company with a mission to partner with traditional lending institutions on SBA 504 loans to spur job growth and economic development.  Read More

Angell, Jon-Mikel Bailey, Dr. Scott Barao and Jeff Barber are the Top 50 CEOs highlighted this month.  The Top 50 CEO list includes criteria based on the CEO's individual responses on the following: Strategic leadership concepts, Significant growth under his or her leadership, Number of employees, Tenure, Company's turnover rate, Company's median salary, Number of nominations the CEO received and CEO's involvement in the community.
