Free Bus and Train Rides for Federal Government Employees

Beginning today, the San Mateo County Transit District will provide free bus and train rides throughout its service areas to all federal government employees who are affected by the partial government shutdown.

Federal workers can ride for free by showing their federal government employee identification cards to bus operators on SamTrans, and to conductors on Caltrain . Free service will remain available for the duration of the government shutdown.

First-time riders can visit www.samtrans.com or www.caltrain.com to learn how to plan a trip, or call 1-800-660-4287.
Replanting the Urban Forest

The Parks Division is in the process of planting 83 City trees throughout Burlingame in planter strip areas, tree lawns, and parks. The species of trees being planted includes red maples, Eucalyptus citriodoras, Chinese pistache, Tuscarora crepe myrtles, Samuel Sommer magnolias, sycamores, scarlet oaks, Trident maples, and Gingko bilobas. This is the first of three plantings that will happen this year.

Did you know that if you do not have a City tree in front of your house, the City will plant a 1 – 15 gallon tree at no charge? Contact the Parks Division office at 650-558-7330 for more information.
