The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest federal disaster loans to Iowa businesses and residents affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding that occurred June 6 - July 2, 2018. SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster following the denial of the state's appeal for a major disaster declaration on Dec. 5, 2018. The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Polk, Story and Warren counties in Iowa. Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at
https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. The
deadline to apply for property damage is Feb. 11, 2019. The deadline to apply for economic injury is Sept. 11, 2019.
