Dear Cherry Hill Residents:
I was proud to join officials from across the state for our first meeting of the Governor’s Restart and Recovery Council. The health and wellbeing of our residents is vital, and while we must remain cautious, it is necessary to plan for an eventual safe return to our normal lives and allow for our businesses to get back on their feet. This will inevitably be an incremental approach, but I’m proud to share with the advisory council what we’ve learned here in town, and implement best practices learned by organizations from around New Jersey. Safety is and always will be paramount.
Last week I joined with Camden County Freeholders and local elected officials to call on the state department of health to offer direct assistance to long term health care facilities struggling with the impact of COVID-19. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic long-term care facilities have been ravaged statewide. Cherry Hill has not been immune. We are working with the state to ensure all infection control procedures are followed, proper usage and supplies of PPE supply are maintained, and that facilities are properly staffed. We have been horrified by the loss of lives at these facilities. Please keep the residents and their families in your thoughts.
Additionally, I’ve joined Mayors from across the state in support of the SMART fund legislation and the Small Business Local Relief Act. The Smart Fund would dedicate federal dollars to states and municipalities like Cherry Hill who have suffered from the spread of COVID-19, and the Small Business Local Relief Act would be critical in securing help for very small businesses who were less likely to have been served by the Paycheck Protection Program. I want to thank our federal representatives for their efforts on behalf of us here in Cherry Hill.
Finally, we know as the weather gets nicer, there is a greater desire to be outside enjoying the sunshine and warm temperatures. As always, please continue to practice proper social distancing.

Information Regarding Summer Recreational Programs and Events

After careful consideration for the health and safety of our Cherry Hill community, we have made the decision to cancel all our summer programs and events. This cancellation includes our Music Under the Stars concert series, all summer camps and National Night Out.

Mayor and Council Recognize Cherry Hill resident
|
During Monday's Virtual Council Meeting, Mayor Angulo and Council recognized Marc Goldstein for receiving Camden County’s Freedom Medal.
Marc established Computer Smiles where he rebuilds, refurbishes, and reprograms donated computers and gets them up to modern standards. Computer Smiles then gives these computers to students, seniors, and families who are in underserved communities.

Mayor and Councilwoman meet with Girl Scouts
|
Mayor Angulo and Councilwoman Roskoph had the opportunity to meet virtually with some young Cherry Hill residents via Zoom this week. Girl Scout Troop 30503 asked questions about the responsibility of the Mayor and Council, how local government works, and about community engagement.

Indian Cultural Center of South Jersey make donation to Cherry Hill first responders
|
Councilwoman Doshi joined Jayesh Parikh from the Indian Cultural Center of South Jersey as they donated $1,000 to both the Cherry Hill Police Department and Cherry Hill Fire Department. Thank you for helping support our first responders during this time.

Virtual Memorial Day Ceremony
|
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cherry Hill Township will host a virtual Memorial Day Ceremony on
Monday, May 25
at 11:45 a.m.
The ceremony will be streamed on our
Facebook
page and will also be posted on our
website
. This year's ceremony will highlight parts of the program from previous years while incorporating some special and important pieces shared by Council Members, members of the American Legion Post 372 and Jewish War Veterans Post 126, and students from our community.
Memorial Day is about honoring the servicemen and women who gave their lives - a day where we come together, pay our respects, and give thanks to those brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
We hope you can join us from the comfort of your own home this year as we pay tribute!

10th Anniversary of the Cherry Hill Trails Program
|
The Cherry Hill Environmental Board is marking the 10th Anniversary of the Cherry Hill Trails Program. Each month, one of the 11 trail locations will be highlighted. This month it is the Kresson Trails.
The Kresson Trails are located near the Springdale Road and Kresson Road intersection. The parking lot for the trails is accessed via a double driveway along Kresson Road and is serviced by an information kiosk. At the foot of the driveways along Kresson Road, there is a red Dero Bike Repair Station, providing tools and an air pump for trail riders, as well as road cyclists passing by. Pedestrians and cyclists can also access the trails via two trailheads along Springdale Road, which are a short walk from Springdale Farms.
The Kresson Trails offer 3.7 miles (19,536 feet in length) of unique, single-track trails that serpentine through woodlands by way of seven color-coded trails on 55 acres. Apart from the interesting features of the forest, vines, birds, hawks, woodchucks, fox, squirrels, rabbits, and deer that trail users will encounter; a unique highlight are the trails that parallel the north branch of the Cooper River and a stream that feeds the Cooper River. Trail activities include hiking, nature watching, and the trails are a favorite for trail running and mountain biking.
As part of the 10th Anniversary, you can walk or bike all 11 trails and participate in the Cherry Hill Trails Challenge. A Challenge Passport is available on the Cherry Hill website. Challenge requirements are noted on the back of the Passport as are the prizes available to those completing all requirements at three different levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Garden for Wildlife Month

The Cherry Hill Environmental Board is pleased to be partnering with the National Wildlife Federation in promoting the month of May as "Garden for Wildlife Month."
By making just a few small accommodations for wildlife in your home garden or patio, you can help sustain valuable birds, butterflies and bees that are important contributors to our environment.

Department of Public Works

The Department of Public Works Administrative Offices will remain closed to the public until further notice. This includes the Recycling Depot at DPW. Public Works will be continuing to provide services to the best of their ability. If you have an emergency matter that requires immediate attention, please call (856) 424-4422 or email

Bulk Waste Collection Resumes
|
Bulk Collection has resumed. Pick-ups will take place on your normally scheduled collection day. If your collection is missed, please contact the Department of Pubic Works the following day.

Although, Township offices are closed, our Senior Services Coordinator is still responding to voicemail and email during the state-mandated quarantine. Please note that during this time, senior bus services are currently suspended. If you have any questions regarding Cherry Hill Senior Services, please contact Gaye Pino by

Officials in Camden County say they’ve seen a disturbing trend of people avoiding the hospital and medical visits, out of fear of catching COVID-19. Officials state it is safe to call 911 for an emergency transport to a hospital and safe to go to your doctor's office. There are protocols in place to protect you from being infected if you require medical assistance.
