We are soon to welcome Andrew (Drew) Ikstrums to join us here at Dreamland Golf Club as our course Superintendent. A certified Greenkeeper and experienced Turf Manager, Andrew’s passion for golf course maintenance stemmed from his time playing high level amateur golf growing up. Widely respected in the industry is the ability to not only see the golf course as a superintendent but also through the eyes of a golfer something we feel Andrew will help us with as we develop the course and game here in Azerbaijan.

Starting his career in his home town of Bundaberg Golf Club, Queensland Australia, Andrew soon picked up the knowledge to prepare fantastic cool season grass surfaces for the members to enjoy. Moving to The Glades Golf Club on the Gold Coast he experienced achievement of setting up a tournament course before taking the step to join Education City Golf Club home of the 2020 Qatar Masters where he has been Deputy Superintendent for the last 2 years. In his down time Andrew spends his time practicing, or watching golf on TV with his current handicap an amazing +3.7 (to get his net score he needs to add 3.7 to his Gross!!) he looks forward to meeting all our members and playing golf in the Baku breeze. 
ACCESS to Dreamland Golf Club has moved to our NEW side entrance next to the Dreamland Shopping Mall. With immediate effect access to the Golf Academy or Golf Hotel from the Clubhouse Car park will mean crossing the first Traffic Barrier control point. To do this smoothly we would ask that you display your Dreamland Golf Club Membership Sticker on your vehicle so that our security team can identify you as a member. Upon approaching the barrier we would ask that you confirm your wish to go to the GOLF ACADEMY / DRIVING RANGE or GOLF HOTEL and access will be granted. See above for directions.

Safety Measures
We have the following safety measures in place at Dreamland, for Golf Members and Employees.
  • Dreamland Access via the MALL New Entrance ONLY – Details above
  • Each guest will have their temperature checked at the GATEHOUSE. Any person (Member or Employee) recording a temperature of 38 degree will not be allowed access to the property. If you are feeling unwell with a temperature we ask that you please STAY HOME.
  • We ask that Members and Employees wear a MASK for SAFETY reasons.
  • Social distancing is a MUST – maintaining a 2 metre distance is crucial AT ALL TIMES.
  • Hand washing and sanitizing is VITAL– we have stations in place for this to happen.
 
Golf - Rules of Play
  • 2 metre Social distancing at ALL TIMES
  • Golf Carts in use / Golfers encouraged to Walk. We will sanitize Golf Carts and Trolleys before play and have removed golf Towels on golf carts.
  • White / Gold / Green Tee boxes in use
  • The Foam protectors have been removed so that the ball can now drop below the level of the cup – Scores may count for qualifying purposes
  • During your game we advise not to touch other peoples clubs, consider picking your own wedges and clubs left at the side of the green
  • No on course Water re-filling stations in use at this time
  • Observe the pace of play. If you are slow, please pick up the ball and advance to the next hole
  • Always follow the hygiene instructions and disinfect or wash your hands before and after the game, avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes.
  • No contact with playing partners (replace 18th-green handshake with shoe bumps, elbow bumps, or Namaste bow….)
Anton In Baku!!!
Anton Samsonov PGA Professional / Golf Operations Manager will be visiting us this weekend having been in Moscow since the Novruz break in March.  His short stay is to catch up with members and staff before returning to Moscow for the winter season where he will be based.  Continuing his work as a Dreamland Ambassador he will support Azerbaijan Tourism Board in promote group visits for 2021.  Samsonov Golf, his YouTube channel has grown in popularity this summer with many clients contacting for online tuition tips and updates, his current plans include participating in the winter MAD Golf Pro Am series in Turkey. Be sure to keep in touch with Anton over the coming months anton@samsonovgolf.com as we look to plan our 2021 season starting from March.

Saturday 19th of September 2020 – Super Saturday Roll Up Results
With calm weather in the morning and challenging windy in the afternoon, 29 players participated in last week’s Saturday Roll Up. John Quinn took first place with 2 under par 38 points. There was a tie for second and third place with Azzubair Jwayyed and Lee Henderson both scoring 1 under par 37 points. In order to determine runner up, it required us to look at their back nine scores. After countback Azzubair took second place with better back nine score of 16pts vs. Lee’s inward score of 14pts which were enough for him to take third place.
Last Saturday 2 players had 2s on their card – John Quinn birdied the 10th, whereas Sang Jun Park birdied the 13th hole to put 2 on his scorecard.
SUMMER ECLECTIC – In Association with TaylorMade
As we approach the end of the summer, our Summer Eclectic leaderboard has started to take shape nicely. Our current leaders are Khalil Huseynov -20, Graham Beattie -19 and Elman Rzayev -18, all three players have completed their 10 Eclectic rounds. Our deadline has been extended to 30th of September so make sure to ask for your Eclectic Scorecard on your next game for your chance to win.
  • Players will need to submit 10 scorecards during this period. 
  • Free to Enter
  • Each member has only one chance to complete a 10 round Eclectic Score.
  • Gents will play from WHITE TEES and Ladies from GREEN TEES.
  • YOU STILL HAVE TIME…..
75% of your CURRENT playing handicap (at the date of the round) is used to calculate your Nett Eclectic score for that day.
Eclectic Score Cards must be picked up before play and returned after play to the competition box. If a score card is not turned in, player will loose that one round from their series – it will be shown as No Card (NC). Members playing the Saturday Roll Up still can use that score for their Eclectic tournament, all they need is to mention it while taking the scorecard and use same scorecard for both Roll Up and the Eclectic.

Members and guests are asked to deposit any Tips / Gratuities in the boxes directly which are located at the Golf Service desk (Locker rooms) or the main club reception. Members of staff are NOT allowed to handle cash directly due to the COVID 19 measures in place, therefore we ask that ALL payments are deposited by the guests at their discretion.
