ACA Lunar New Year Banquet on February 9
Joy to the Lunar New Year of 2019 and a promising Year of the Earth Pig! The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) is going to celebrate the Spring Festival and hold a New Year banquet at Golden Harvest Restaurant in the evening of February 9 (Saturday) . All parties are welcome!

The New Year banquet is a traditional signature event organized by ACA. Well-designed and sensational New Year activities will provide the community with wonderful experience on the Spring Festival culture and networking fun during the holiday season. In recent years, this banquet has been attracted by people from all walks of life. Seats are highly demanded and overbooking happens often, which shows to the public the Spring Festival has become an culturally important celebration in the great Detroit area.

As the tradition, the banquet will have an authentic, 10-course gourmet Chinese dinner, entertainment and performances, silent auctions including Delta airline international round-trip tickets, jewelry, art works etc . In addition, the dedicated volunteers who made important contribution will be recognized at the banquet.

ACA is grateful to the support of community, and individuals, organizations, companies who are interested are welcome to celebrate the New Year with us together.

Last Boat Out of Shanghai -- A talk and book signing by Helen Zia
Helen Zia, author of Asian American Dreams: The Emergence of an American People, is coming for a talk and book signing for her newest book, Last Boat Out of Shanghai. Come and hear Helen talk about her book, and how she approached writing it.

Last Boat Out of Shanghai  is based on the dramatic real-life stories of a generation caught up in the mass rush out of Shanghai in the wake of China's 1949 Communist Revolution, with startling parallels to the struggles faced by emigrants today.
