Spirit Works Releases Bottled in Bond Rye
Spirit Works Distillery announced that it has released its first ever Bottled in Bond—Straight Rye Whiskey. As an effort towards regulating spirits industry at the time, the US Government passed the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, dictating a very strict set of quality standards and control of production practices for a spirit to be labeled as such. Reminder: Your Response Needed for 2018 Craft Spirits Data Project
ACSA, Park Street and the IWSR are again asking for your help. We are collecting, analyzing, and reporting on economic data for our craft spirits community, the media, and Congress. Reinvestment of the FET savings, job growth, in-state versus out-of-state sales, and bottom line contribution to the U.S. economy will be reported. This year, this data is all the more important as we attempt to educate your federal Representatives and Senators on how you are using your tax savings. Tell us! We cannot do this without your assistance. We will again collaborate with our industry partners to secure updates from the wholesale and retail tier.
Economic Development Authority Loan Boosts W.V. Distillery's Hiring
With his Jackson County distillery set to receive a loan from the West Virginia Economic Development Authority, Appalachian Distillery owner Dwayne Freeman is preparing to hire more workers to help make the moonshine that has gained a following throughout the country. (Charleston Gazette-Mail) 
Wilmington, N.C. to Get Its First Craft Distillery
Hunter Ford opened Momentum Surf and Skate nearly 10 years ago in downtown Wilmington and now, he has big plans for the Momentum brand and for Wilmington’s downtown. Ford’s plans for the brand include bringing the first boutique distillery to the area: Momentum Spirits. (Port City Daily) 
Storyhouse Spirits to Open in San Diego This Summer
The latest addition to San Diego’s craft spirits scene, Storyhouse Spirits, is putting down roots in the East Village neighborhood where the company is in the process a building a new distillery, bar and restaurant. (Eater San Diego)
  • Six Virginia Distilleries to Exhibit at Whiskey Live in London
Six Virginia distilleries will exhibit at the Whisky Live trade show in London March 23- 24 at The Honourable Artillery Company. The six distilleries— Belmont Farm Distillery , Catoctin Creek Distilling Copper Fox Distillery Franklin County Distilleries KO Distilling  and  Reservoir Distillery —will offer samples of their products in the “Virginia is for Spirits Lovers” themed booth. Coppercraft Releases Canned G&T
Coppercraft Distillery is the first Michigan distiller to jump on the canned cocktail trend. The Holland craft distiller has released its version of the classic mixed cocktail, Gin & Tonic, made from its award-winning gin. (MLive)
Two Brothers Brewing Gets Into Distilling
Two Brothers Brewing, which has been turning out craft beer for more than two decades, has started distilling its own liquor, which is now for sale in stores. Jason and Jim Ebel, founders of Two Brothers, are now offering vodka, citrus vodka, gin, coffee liqueur and amaro, aged in used beer barrels. (Chicago Tribune)
Distillery in Old Upstate New York Firehouse Set to Open
A local attorney's plans to operate a farm-based craft distillery inside a former fire station on Route 5 are so close to reality you can almost sip them. The Schenectady Distilling Co., at 3304 Amsterdam Road (Route 5) in West Glenville, has already opened its tasting room, where it offers samples and bottles of farm-sourced craft liquor, wine and even a cider, all produced in New York state.
