Thank you, thank you, thank you to our friends who contributed nearly $100,000 towards the upgrade of Loyola House's sanitation system. The future retreatants and community members who will be the beneficiaries of this critical upgrade also thank you. Each year Loyola House hosts 34 retreats and programs for 1000 men and women and is a venue for dozens of community organizations who host events attended by thousands more. None of this would happen without your support. Each and every one of you are tremendous friends!!
Our hearts go out to the Veri and Aimola families who lost two family members at the end of 2017: Freddy Veri and Tony Aimola. And our sincere appreciation to those who donated to support the Old-Growth Forest Project in their memory. The Veri and Aimola families have been ardent supporters of this project since its beginnings over a decade ago!

Thank you everyone
who has been a part of our 2017 CSA membership and Garden Plots! Amidst the cool-damp spring, we still had a great growing season of delicious crops. We enjoyed the new and familiar folks that joined the farm journey. With the major investments over the year in the hoop-house, strawberry planting, and tractor implements, we are planning for a very tasty 2018! January is a key preparation month for the farm team: fine-tuning enterprise plans, crop planning, doing inventory and maintenance, ordering seed & supplies, team design and hiring, connecting with our community partners, redesigning the farm internship...while still washing and selling 2017 crops from the root cellar! Principles and Practices of Organic Agriculture - Learning and farm work
Can't choose between learning and working? Ignatius Farm has  options! Ignatius Farm Internships combine weekly curriculum with full-time farm work. This farming immersion experience has over 100 alumni, now applying their knowledge and skills to diverse work in agriculture, food systems, ecology, and health & wellness. Check it out, along with several farm work contract positions, on the Ignatius website employment page. The farm also offers working shares in which volunteers work one shift per week in exchange for a CSA share or Community Garden Plot.
Bulk Roots for Sale!

Trees for Tots -
another successful year re-purposing Christmas trees!
The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington's
Trees for  Tots fundraiser brought in a record-breaking $55,024 for the charitable organization on Saturday, January 6.
According to a post on the Children's Foundation's Facebook page, 3,235 Christmas trees were picked up during the event, which was in its sixth year. Read the rest of this article in the Guelph Mercury-Tribune here.
This event is a win-win for Ignatius Jesuit Centre, as the Centre was the recipient for all the trees. They were chipped and will be usable in the gardens and new tree plantings. 150 of the trees were kept whole and will be used in stream rehabilitation.
