Time Is Running Out for APRx
To Get Group Health Proposal
Survey Responses, Employee Data Critical to Build Plan;
Conference Calls Scheduled to Provide More Info
Employer health insurance can be a major overhead expense for the pharmacies that provide a health plan for employees. Small plans often mean high premiums, extensive deductibles and cost-sharing, plus the prospects of steep premium increases.  American Pharmacies believes it can develop a pooled employer group called a MEWA -- short for Multiple Employer Welfare Arrange-ment -- that would qualify via its larger size for health coverage with lower costs and less volatility in year-to-year premiums.

But time is running out to make this prospect a reality that produces a health plan for 2019. The idea of an APRx-sponsored group plan has received significant interest in survey responses so far, but we are not getting the level of participation and detailed employee data that underwriters need to actually produce a policy with rates and coverages. We have until mid-October to submit employee data for the underwriting process, so anyone submitting census forms after October 15 will not be eligible to participate in a plan whose coverage begins Jan. 1, 2019 .

If you have not taken the survey, please do so as soon as possible. If you have taken the survey and indicated interest in an APRx group health plan, please fill out the employee census form and submit it as soon as possible to [email protected]. Just click on the link below to begin the survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

We understand that this proposal is moving fast and that you may need more details or have questions about the group plan. We've developed a Q&A document that explains the proposal in more detail and we are scheduling four conference calls next week to give you a firsthand opportunity to get any information you need to make a decision. Simply dial in during any of the four call periods shown below using the listed access codes.
