In accordance with the bylaws of Saint John's Parish, "Only adult communicant members of this Parish, those who are 16 years of age or over, whose names are duly enrolled in the Register of said Parish, and who are regular in their attendance at its services and make stated contributions of record to its general support, shall be Electors qualified to vote at a duly convened meeting of the Parish."

Adult Christian Formation
Adult Enquirers Class Begins in February
St. John's Enquirers Class is an important formational opportunity for all parishioners seeking to deepen their faith. Led by Fr. Connelly and Fr. Cannon, this twelve-week course delves into several critical topics by which our faith is understood. Holy Scripture, the Book of Common Prayer, sacraments, prayer, worship, mission, doctrine, and church history will be taught and discussed. The idea is for each participant to come to and strengthen their own faith by better understanding the teachings of the church and its instruments for a faithful practice. This course is open to anyone who wants to deepen their faith. All will benefit from the content discussion as well as the group fellowship. This course is required for adults seeking to be baptized, confirmed, received into The Episcopal Church, and anyone wanting to make a public reaffirmation of faith. The class begins Sunday, February 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Lunch will be provided. The class is free of charge.

Please contact either Fr. Michael or the parish offices to sign up.  There will be a nursery provided.

However, because health regulations prohibit the clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, we will not know if you or someone you love is there unless you tell us. We want to provide support in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or  click here to email us to let us know when you need us.

If you have a pastoral emergency when the parish offices are closed, please call 906.5199.

Women's Mid Morning Bible Study, 10:00 a.m., Lowry Room
The Women's Mid Morning Bible Study will continue a study of the Apostle Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians on alternating Tuesdays through May 5.  The  Rev. Charles Connelly will guide the group's study of 1 Corinthians 3:5 - 4:21, The Sole Foundation, on Tuesday, January 21.

In the opinion of the Reverend Tom Wright, whose book Paul for Everyone, 1 Corinthians the group is using for their study, this letter reveals Paul's pastoral sensitivity and deep insight, which come together to make First Corinthians not only one of Paul's crowning achievements, but full of good things for us to ponder today.

The group invites all interested women to join them on alternate Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. in the Lowry Room. The lesson will begin at 10:15 and conclude at 11:15.  For more information, please contact Pat Wilson at patwilson68@tampabay.rr.com or 245.9562, or Joan McKay at mckayjhm@aol.com.

Wednesday Nights in St. John's, 6:30 p.m., Parish Hall
The Wednesday Nights Group  meets each week on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a shared potluck supper followed by fellowship, a video, and discussion of our faith.

Do you know the real story behind the New Testament? We all share a fascination for discovering "the rest of the story." We enjoy learning the behind-the-scenes facts about seemingly familiar events. In the eight-session video Bible study The New Testament You Never Knew, well-known Bible scholars N.T. Wright and Michael F. Bird team up to take you on a tour of the story behind the explosive story.

You will discover things you never knew about Jesus' baptism and journey into the wilderness, the meaning behind his parables and miracles, the significance of his death and resurrection, the incredible expansion of the early church into the Greco-Roman world, and how the transforming mission of Jesus can still turn the world upside down today.  Through reading the New Testament we continually discover that God indeed keeps his promises, but those promises don't always look like what people expected, especially when it comes to Jesus. Come join the journey with N.T. Wright and Michael Bird and they will help you understand the New Testament you never knew!
