ST. LOUIS (March 5, 2018) - The International Institute of St. Louis, the St. Louis region's Welcome Center for New Americans, will present "Filling the Skills Gap -- International Institute Study of St. Louis Immigrant Occupation & Education Assets," beginning with a wine & cheese reception at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, March 8, in the Institute Hall of Nations, 3401 Arsenal St.
The March 8 program will address questions such as, how many immigrants and refugees in St. Louis are employed in jobs that do not utilize their professional credentials? What are the current gaps by professional occupational cluster in the St. Louis job market? How are these two issues aligned?
"In 2017, the International Institute undertook a Study of St. Louis Immigrant Occupation and Education Assets (IOEA) with support from the William T. Kemper Foundation-Commerce Bank, Trustee," said International Institute of St. Louis President & CEO Anna E. Crosslin. "We are delighted to share the findings of this Study with the community as we work to help make St. Louis a better place for people of all backgrounds to live, work and invest."

J.S. Onesimo (Ness) Sandoval - Associate Professor, Sociology & Anthropology, St. Louis University, will present relevant data from the U.S. Bureau of the Census' American Community Survey.
Blake Hamilton - Vice President of Programs, International Institute of St. Louis, will speak about how the data has value to immigrants and area employers.
Susan Gobbo - an immigrant from Brazil who will share her and other experiences.
Eesaa Sahib - an immigrant from Iraq who will also share his and other experiences.
