private donations and the City's Neighborhood Opportunity Fund - a program that benefited greatly from that area's high-rise construction boom. Unlike new CPL branches underway in other parts of the City, this one at 118 N. Aberdeen Street is not new construction - it occupies an old two-story building once part of Oprah's Harpo Studios television production campus.
The property was donated to the city
by West Loop-based developer Sterling Bay after the company shifted unused air rights from the parcel to its adjacent 16-story Hyatt hotel development at 113 N. May Street.
