Tweed, CT Airport Authority agree to form group to consider CAA involvement
The Connecticut Airport Authority and the Tweed New Haven Airport Authority agreed Wednesday to set up a "working committee" to explore the possibility of having the CAA either acquire or enter an operating agreement for Tweed New Haven Regional Airport.

Meanwhile, Mayor Toni N. Harp has unilaterally terminated the city's 2009 Memorandum of Agreement with East Haven, which settled litigation and cleared the way for construction of unpaved runway safety areas while limiting Tweed's main runway length to the current 5,600 feet. Read More

Group Exhibition Opportunity: Hydrogen, Fuel Cell, and Electrochemical Energy Storage Cluster at Hannover Messe
April 1-April 5, 2019

The Connecticut Hydrogen Fuel Cell Coalition and the Northeast Electrochemical Energy Storage Cluster invites hydrogen, fuel cell, and electrochemical energy storage companies to exhibit at Hannover Messe, the world's largest industrial technology trade show. Hannover Messe will be held April 1-5, 2019 in Hannover, Germany. Exhibiting may increase sales, exports, and revenue, while promoting the hydrogen and fuel cell industry in CT and the Northeast US.

This effort is being supported by CCAT and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) to increase sales, exports, and recognition in international markets. The cost for a 4 square meter booth is estimated to be about $6,300, and if the CT company is eligible to receive a STEP grant, which would be for 75-85 percent of the eligible exhibit expenses and some of the shipping expenses, the net cost for a 4 square meter booth would be approximately $1K.

The estimated booth cost also includes standard furniture, carpet and lighting (electrical supply), exhibitor passes, parking passes, unlimited visitor tickets, catered meals and beverages all week long (at the Hall), extensive promotion online, support in the set-up of the display, 6.13 square meters of graphics, and assistance with graphics design. Development Chief Seeks "Transformation"
Yes, it's important that new apartments are going up and businesses are growing and expanding in Hamden. But when Dale Kroop thinks about economic growth in his town, he's looking beyond the next project and next company moving in.

"To me, workforce development is the most important economic development thing we can focus on," said Kroop, who has just signed on for another two years as Hamden's director of economic and neighborhood development. "Economic development is not just about helping businesses succeed. It's about economic prosperity. That's the transformational thinking."

Transformation means developing the potential of Hamden's residents, which is Kroop's focus as he starts his 20th year as the town's economic chief. Attracting and retaining a new generation of workers to offset the aging population are also crucial. Read More
