January 22 - 26
Barry Walker Memorial Math Tournament
Saturday, January 26, about 25 schools will come to Briarwood to participate in the Barry Walker Memorial Math Tournament. Usually there are around 350 students that compete.

It is our intention to focus on training; therefore every entrant will cipher as well as take the written test in one of the following areas, Algebra I, Geometry or Algebra II.

The tournament is run by the Mu Alpha Theta ( the math honor society) students. They are required to use this opportunity to serve the community at large.
Safety Patrol is a service group which consists of 5th and 6th grade students. In addition to assisting with morning and afternoon carpool, Safety Patrol members present flags in chapel and assist with many special events, including school tours for new families and students.

Safety Patrol members must show leadership skills, responsibility, and initiative. They are selected after completing an application, writing an essay, engaging in an interview process as well as teacher recommendations.

Applications will be made available in the school office the week of January 22. Applications must be turned in by February 1st. New members will be announced February 22nd.
Marching Lions in Inaugural Parade
The Briarwood Christian Marching Lion Band was invited to represent Briarwood and the community in the Inauguration Parade of Gov. Kay Ivey on January 14 in Montgomery.

They were honored to serve and participate in this prestigious event.
