From March 1st through the 8th, a team of 24 university students, healthcare providers, and CPI missionaries served alongside a new church partner in El Cerrito, Guatemala.
The trip was also the first mission trip partnership between CPI and Cedarville University. Global Outreach, a Department of the University, sanctioned the trip as a potential service opportunity during the school's Spring Break. Cedarville Pharmacy Professor David Peters led the team of students, whose majors ranged from Pre-Med, Allied Health and Nursing to Medical Translation & Social Work.
CPI's Guatemalan National Directors Helmuth & Olga Marroquin developed the relationship with the Column of Truth Church in El Cerrito. It was the first-ever medical clinic outreach for the church, and the congregation's excitement to reach their community for Christ was inspiring.
The church brought more than 40 volunteers who served alongside the U.S. & Guatemalan healthcare providers. Each clinic day opened up with a time of prayer and worship, and the multinational team was blessed to witness God work many miracles, including saving the life of a young baby named Amberli. The CPI healthcare team sprang to action to resuscitate Amberli through CPR, and then the Lord orchestrated every detail to bring a fully-equipped ambulance to the clinic to take the baby and her young mother and grandmother to a private hospital to receive just the right care Amberli needed.
By the end of the clinic week, more than 900 patients visited our "Clinic of the Soul" where each one heard a clear presentation of the Gospel message in their own language, and 111 of those patients made a decision for Jesus Christ - to God be the glory, great things He has done!
