Greetings from Iowa City

We hope you've had a great start to 2019! All of us in International Programs wish you health and happiness in the new year.

As you know, internationalization is a core commitment at the University of Iowa.  Here are a few quick facts about the university's achievements in internationalization.

In 2018, the University of Iowa
  • started a new tradition, a flag for every country represented by UI students is displayed on the IMU bridge every semester for a week, both as a gesture of welcome to our students from around the world, and to mark the graduation of our international students
  • was home to 3665 international students from 115 different countries
  • sent 1189 UI students to study abroad in 67 different countries (most recent data from academic year 2017-18)
  • hosted 12 international alumni events
  • provided online pre-arrival webinars worldwide, connecting with hundreds of prospective and incoming students and their parents virtually
  • was named a "top producer" of U.S. Fulbright students by the Chronicle of Higher Education for the third consecutive year, tied for 15th place nationally
  • assisted UI faculty and staff in identifying and pursing internal and external funding opportunities to support international research and projects
  • produced graduation ceremonies with commentary in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, and Farsi
University of Iowa alumni live around the world and we want to stay connected with you. Let us know if you change your address or email - and share the good news if you get a promotion or have other accomplishments to celebrate!

All the best in the new year!
