Executive Director Jack Salo

As I reflect on the past year I am struck by the positive changes that have taken place at the Rural Health Network in 2018.

Our work with healthcare partners deepened and work began to connect to Care Compass Network's new Care Management data collection and information sharing system. When the system is activated in the next few weeks, it will enable us to manage information on those being served in new and exciting ways. We will have the ability to communicate both internally and with partners to ensure timely resolution of issues, make referrals and track progress.

On a personal note, In 2019 I had the opportunity to participate in a training program with leaders from the Community Foundation for South Central New York to learn how philanthropy is making a difference as a partner in rural economic development across the country. The training reinforced my belief that unless we can restore and develop our rural economies, provide living wages, affordable housing, childcare and transportation options, we will not realize the vision of healthy rural people and communities.

Looking forward to the New Year, Rural Health Network has an ambitious line up of activities and projects. We are initiating a capital campaign to purchase and make improvements to the Court Street facility. This will require hard work and support from our Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and the community. We are excited to begin the campaign and there will be more information forthcoming throughout the year.

Read the complete article including highlights of other 2019 projects and initiatives.

In conclusion I want to acknowledge and thank all who made it possible for Rural Health Network to provide a high level of service and to initiate new projects. Everything we do as an organization requires the input, support and participation of a larger community of partners. We look forward to continuing to work with all of you in 2019 to improve the health and well-being of our region.

farmFarm to School NY Thursday

On January 10th, the participating districts in Broome-Tioga BOCES served BBQ Oven Roasted Chicken from Cascun Farms, Roasted Cinnamon Sweet Potatoes from Headwater Food Hub, Steamed Peas, an apple from Russell Farms, a Wheat Dinner Roll, and Low Fat Byrne Dairy Milk for NY Thursday. These delicious meals wouldn't be possible without the hard work of many partners, from our farms to our kitchen staff and lots of support behind the scenes!
