Dear Colleagues,
2020 is proving to be a demanding, eventful year. We are thinking of each one of you in your schools as you navigate rising concerns about COVID-19. I imagine your in-boxes are as overflowing as mine with bulletins and advisories of various kinds: we will not burden you with too many more, but are including links to the
CDC advisory
for schools, a school-specific bulletin from
Education Week
, and a summary of the basics of
supporting children
in anxious situations.
We are continuing our planning for our ground-breaking June conference; at the same time, we are fully aware that we have no idea what things will look like in June. Please review this message from the conference planning committee:
Dear Friends,
As we prepare for our exciting joint conference in late June, we are also aware of the potential challenges of COVID-19. Like many individuals, groups, and organizations across the country and around the world, we are keeping our eye on a rapidly evolving situation. Our conference is scheduled to take place as planned; our registration is already above 500 and it promises to be a spectacular event.
Please be assured that we are considering a wide range of possible implications of the COVID-19 situation. Our foremost commitment is to plan for a safe event. As such, we will continue to monitor directives and information from the CDC and local authorities and the conference planning committee will meet weekly to review and to discuss any adjustments that may become necessary. We know that things will continue to change; June 23 is both a distant date and very near.
For now, we are all hoping for the best, yet planning for many possible scenarios. We will keep you fully informed. We know you will all be engaged in similar processes at the school level. This is an unprecedented situation and we hold our best wishes for everyone who is currently impacted.
Take care of yourselves; we wish you good health.
2020 Innovation Summit Planning Committee
We send our hopes for good health and strength for all and our thanks for the extra load you are carrying as you provide a wonderful educational environment for children in these uncertain times. More than ever, they need the rhythm, arts, nature experiences, and caring, mindful adults that you offer every day.
Be well,
Liz Beaven
