Lexington, KY – January 23, 2019 – Robert Ridland has been elected President of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. Ridland succeeds George Morris who chose to step down after more than 30 years in the position. Morris, who remains on the Board of Directors, is the only person to have served as President of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame, having been elected when the Hall of Fame was established in 1987.

 

Also elected as officers at the Hall of Fame’s annual meeting were Peter Doubleday who was reelected as Chairman, Larry Langer who was reelected as Vice President, Sally Ike who was reelected as Secretary and David Distler who was reelected as Treasurer.

 

In addition to the officers, the Board of Directors also includes Brownlee O. Currey, Anne Kursinski, George Morris, Will Simpson, Fran Steinwedell, Steve Stephens, Chrystine Tauber, and Melanie Smith Taylor.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame, organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends who have made great contributions to the sport, was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame is located at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, where plaques honoring the men, women and horses who’ve been inducted can be seen at the Horse Park’s Rolex Stadium. Mementos and artifacts from the sport’s history are on display as part of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame collection at the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s (USHJA) Wheeler Museum at the Horse Park.

 

In addition to its annual elections and inductions, the Show Jumping Hall of Fame conducts the Hollow Brook Wealth Management Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series. The Series hosts classes at nearly 100 horse shows across the country before culminating in Year-End Championships at the National Horse Show in Lexington, KY, and the Las Vegas National Horse Show in Las Vegas, NV. The Series hosts separate divisions for amateur-owner and junior riders in two Conferences – East and West – and follows Grand Prix rules and specifications, providing opportunities for amateur-owner and junior riders to compete at higher levels and serving as a proving ground for many who aspire to represent the United States in international competition.
