Payroll: About the New W-4 Tax Withholding Form
The W-4 Withholding Form from the IRS got a major makeover for 2020.

  • The new form calculations have been updated in Engage's systems and can be accessed through the Employee Details area in the Engage Manager Portal, and in the Tax Witholding section in the Employee Portal.

  • Keep in mind that current employees are NOT required to submit a new Form W-4. If a new form is not submitted, withholding will continue to be based on their current elections.

  • New hires and existing employees who do wish to change their current federal tax withholding must submit a new form.

More about the new W-4

The redesign reflects changes to the federal tax code which took effect last year. To help employers, the IRS created a 2020 Form W-4 Employer Review to explain the changes to withholding calculations. The guide also includes a sample letter you can use to communicate the changes to your employees, and a list of FAQs for both employers and employees. The links to these resources are included below. You are encouraged to review them to familiarize yourself with the changes.
