Sarah Lane Honours Her Dad on Her Wedding Day
Sarah Lane lost her dad when she was 19. In November 2018, she got married and wanted to honour her dad’s memory in a very special way. In lieu of the traditional party favours, each guest received a Myeloma Canada lapel pin and Sarah and her husband donated $200 to our organization. Almost all guests wore the Myeloma Canada pin - even the bride! Sarah, we thank you for thinking of us on your special day and for your heartfelt gift in memory of your dad. As you both have said, "the best gift we can offer is to help others". Thank you for helping us make myeloma matter.

Jessica Portelance Set to Run the 2019 Boston Marathon
in Support of Myeloma Canada
Jessica Portelance with her dad
In May 2018, Jessica Portelance’s dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He underwent a stem cell transplant in October, and fortunately, his response to treatment has been incredible and his recovery remarkable. To support him and the Canadian myeloma community, Jessica will be running the 2019 Boston Marathon on April 15 and raising funds for Myeloma Canada in support of this challenge. Every dollar counts when it comes to supporting research programs. She is ready to run 42.2 km as a reminder that we are one step closer to a cure! If you would like to support Jessica's initiative, visit her fundraising page here
Three Educational Meetings in British Columbia
Three patient and caregiver educational meetings happened in January in British Columbia. Thank you to everyone who took part in the Meet & Greets in Prince George and Vancouver, and InfoSession in Abbotsford. We’re grateful to have spent time supporting these communities by launching two new support groups, connecting with new members and providing information and resources for managing myeloma.
