Oppose Discrimination in Auto Lending: Urge Congress to Vote "NO" on H.J. Res. 132!
On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on H.J. Res. 132, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution which would undo the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) 2013 indirect auto lending guidance.
This important guidance provides a key step to limit the discriminatory impact of dealer interest rate markups in the auto lending industry. This would be a first-of-its-kind vote, abusing streamlined procedures to try to undo longstanding guidance issued over five years ago. The Senate passed their version of this proposal in April.
